LOL. maybe i've read this wrong but unless the roots have grown dwn ur ext hose then the roots need to touch the water to get the nutes

Hydro is supose to have watter running down the base of the stalk hitting the roots, the roots should never be in the water because that can and proibly will cause root rot or other problums

if you can buy hyrdo baskets then you should use thoes if not you might be able to use cheep reusable coffee filters but I'm not sure how thoes would respond to it though

a hydro system uses a drip watering system to feed/water your girls and the basket and roots never touch the water storage

DWC...Deep Water Culture means that the roots do touch the water, but there are bubblers and airstones constantly bubbling the rez. that maintain a sufficient supply of oxygen to the roots.

I was just explaining to votyvkon. Anyone who hasn't done a DWC would probably make the same assumption you did, it works differently than your average hydro system.
