Helps with Ventilation/Fans/Heat 4x4 tent 600hps

Hey all!

Run down>>

4x4 tent
600hps - 6" cooltube
4" vortex w/ 4" carbon filter
2 6" osc fans etc
speed control -- but its on full

setup>>
exhuast--
filter> ducting > cool tube > ducting > fan > ducting > window
1 6" osc fan in the corner moving air
1 6" fan pointing at the cooltube

intake -- passive
4" ducting from window
flaps at bottom open

temps are at 85
RH drops to 30-40

-----------------------
now im still vegging for the most part so im using cfls/t12s

temps 76
RH 50
-----------------------

Now, the question.

Should I add a 6" inline duct fan(plastic blades $40) JUST for the light (with sep ducting, pulls air from out of tent and vents out of tent) keeping my 4" vortex to scrub and pull air out

ORRRR

Scrap the 4" vortex and just get a 6" vortex to do the whole job?

Would a 6" vortex have enough power to pull/scrub/ and keep those temps down?

Any advice/input welcomed and appreciated!

thanks ahead of time

Jet

EDIT: im pretty sure im going to go with a 6" vortex or CAP (ebay).. but not sure if im goign to keep the 4" as well.. anywho, any thoughts

Yo dude I have same lights and size tent but I have them all running through 6" vortex.

Get a 6" then use the 4" for intake. BELIEVE me you will need it. Run 6" filter-fan-hood-out(+ducting obviously). I had the pipe out my window and it was still getting way to hot in here with just house ac so I had to get window unit. It never gets about 75 in here now(with the out laying on my floor now) and I'm about to tear it down for next run and send the out end of it into my house ducting so that shit will pop out all over the rest of the house but not in here. I've abandoned the rest of the dwelling which works wonders because no one wants to hang around if it's 90* lol.

TL:DR
Use 4" for intake 6" for out and be prepared to get window ac for temps just in case. They won't last long at 90 :(
Oh and have it blow like straight across just under cooltube and towards scrub but down a little bit

*edit*
Oh and also get one of those round metal fans that are about 4"-6" for inside the tent to move air around(not the ones with the base stuck to them get the ones that stand up like picture frame kinda). I had to keep adjusting the one at the input and the one between the light

Also Don't tell anybody. I only let close friends in my house(people I'd trust with my life) and only a handful of them have caught wind and I still think about how fucked I am every day :( You can never untell someone. Also set up clone and veg closet asap!!!
**final note**
It's hot as satans balls here btw ;D

hey man thanks for the reply.. yeah pretty sure the 6" vortex is a MUST for a 600. if temps are still too high, i'll throw the 4" vortex in there as well.

whats the ambient temp outside your tent? mine stays around 72-75.

as soon as i switch on the fans/hps temps shoot 10degrees up.. around 85.. im hoping when i get the 6" that it stays below 80 in there

I am new to all this but I read a post the other day that said that the way you have:

Filter > Cool Tube > Fan > Exhaust

is not as good as setting it up as:

Filter > Fan > Cool Tube > Exhaust

(something about negative air pressure?)

I would like to know myself of the difference.

well negative pressure technically isnt about your setup, its about intake vs exhaust.

you want negative pressure meaning, you want to be sucking the air out of the tent faster than it can suck in fresh air, creating negative pressure (sides of tent being sucked in)

as far as your layout you put above, you actually want the FIRST one, NOT the second.

The first one is using your Fan to SUCK air

The second one you have is PUSHING air

fans = do best when SUCKING the air

:)

I need help? I bought a 4x4 tent, have 600w hps, 6in filter, 6in cool tube, 6in inline fan &4 in inline fan and 16in osc. fan. My setulp is like this; filter, duct 4in inline fan exhausting air out, ducting, reflector, 6in inline fan pulling cool air in and across the bulb; have a 4.5in computer fan pulling air in the tent. Temp is getting up to 87.4 in flower room, dont know what else to do to cool it down, can someone please help me.

^^ you want to use your 6" fan SUCKING the bulb heat out of your tent.

are these vortex fans? or those plastic blade inline fans? if they are the fans with both ends are crinkled, they will not cool your 600w.. you always want to be sucking the hot air out of the tent.. you can use smaller fans for input.
