The Party in the Woods
I want to tell you about another great party I was lucky enough to attend this weekend. I had heard booth good and bad about Hempstalk a 2 day event held in Portland Oregon. To be more exact its outside of the city a long way and if it wasn't your destination I don't think you could find the place. I will always think of the 2 days as the party in the woods to be honest. The location Kelly Point Park is not much more than a huge ass field in the middle of nowhere surrounded by water and some dirt paths that wander through the woods and open spaces under the trees. The event was poorly organized and we had problems just giving the people running it money for our booths. NO one knew anything about where to park and the long ride in from parking in golf carts down a really dusty road had my expectations low until I emerged into the field and saw that indeed our culture had gathered to celebrate freedom and the plant that brings us all together. It was like a scene out of Woodstock to be honest and I find the event really well named. IT was a scorcher almost 100 degrees and as the sun burned down the clothes came off. I love our culture very much and it always makes me so happy to see hippy families at events like this just enjoying nature and music and cannabis while still acting as doting parents to their children. I did not get many pictures because the TGA booth was so busy and we were short handed but I took time to see it all and I was able to get a few shots. The tunes were jamming and the park is small enough you can hear everywhere in the park almost. Lots of Jam style bands at one time I thought the Grateful Dead might have got back together and came to jam. The best part was in the evenings after the hot sun went down everyone just started chilling and most vendors just relaxed and it turned into a great big mellow party. The event dosn't close until 10 pm and by 8.30 we were basically in the woods in the dark parting under candle light, it was epic. Sunday I actually hired a videotographer to follow me around, Greg from Cannabis Cures UK will be putting that together for me and we will get it posted online. This allowed me to not worry about camera's and such and just meet with the people who wanted my knowledge and smoke everyone that stood in front of me down! I work hard and generally don't medicate or even smoke much when I am working I know this sounds odd but being Subcool is hectic and when someone meets me I want to be at my best not with my eyes shut sitting down. I started breaking that rule in the afternoon on the second day when I saw some medicated chex mix. That as followed by a few cup cakes, some peanut brittle, medicated Marionberry ice cream, and I think a few caramels over a 4 hour period. By dark I was actually laughing at everything and so was everyone around me. You see most of the vendors had become friends while working around each other and everyone started to share as the end of the party came. We hung out breaking down our two booths ( we now have the TGA clothing booth as well) and just enjoying the freedom and the tunes. If my writing style seems a bit off I am still a bit tired and high I am sure but I really wanted to tell my readers. Don't miss this party next year even with the hassle of getting there I won't be ever missing it again see you at Hempstalk 2012.
