Hempy bucket +Hydrotron

Hi. First off this is my first post so i wanna thank anybody and everybody who even bothers to read it at all specially seeings how i ended up on this site because the one i was using was anything BUT helpfull....

but on to my question. I am starting my first grow and was planning to use the hempy bucket method refered to me by somebody else were, but i live 3 1/2Hrs drive from the nearest place that sell's perlit or Verm, So i was curious if hydroton would work because i have a buddy that use's it in his hydroponics set up and he's will give me all i need free.

I think you will still need to cut the hydroton with vermiculite or coco.

Give it a go man, its all trial and error, a medium is a medium at the end of the day and weed will grow in all of them.

If in a hempy bucket you would have a 1 inch resivour drilled around the base of the container holding perlite, try using two inches, because the surface area for the roots will be reduced when using hydroton.

But a medium isnt a medium, they all have different characteristics, like hydroton wont wick up water from the res.

order it on line or make the drive it will be worth it .

I think you would end up watering every day or twice a day to keep the roots alive, especially early on.

Unless you live in ANWR there is perlite close to you. Keep looking. Hardware store, Walmart, garden center. C'mon man. Hardly anyone lives 3 1/2 hours away from ANYTHING. Plus you have an internet connection. You can order perlite from Amazon, for god's sake!

Well so much for that ideal i guess i'll just have to order i was just trying to avoid doing so simply due to noisy neighbors but looks like i will just have to get over it.
So new question i have enough seeds and room for 6 gallon buckets and i'm growing a Dwarf Auto how much perlite and Verm would one need to get started on a grow like that?
I don't wanna order WAY to much and have lots and lots of it sitting around nor way to little and have to wait for more to be shipped.

Forget the vermiculite. I added some to my mix last time and I'm not pleased with the results. 100% perlite'll do you fine.

one twenty dollar bag will last you a couple of grows. 4 cubic feet.

The one time I mailordered perlite it came in a big cardboard box. If you worry about your neighbors send it to a friend.
