Hempy buckets?

Can someone fill me in on how a hempy bucket works? I know there's supposed to be a perlite vermiculite mix and that you can use something like hydroton for the rest of the medium. But when pu put nutrients in with the perlite vermiculite mix should they be veg nutes, bloom nutes or some of both? Also how often do you water with this system and do you add nutrients to the waterings? Any help or info would be great

I use Lucas formula with my hempys water every 3 days and yes nutrients every watering and pH should be from 5.8 to 6.4.... I use 20ml of h2o2 per gallon also (3%)

You can use a lot of different types of mediums. I personally use only perlite. Follow your nutrient manufacturer's hydro drain to waste feeding schedule. Most (I can't speak for all) have you use the nutrients every time you water. For passive hempys, feeding frequency depends on a lot of things, mainly container size, res size, and how big you let the plant(s) get.

Definitely check out the World of Hempy thread, read through every page if you have time...it has a lot of extremely in depth info on this very subject.

I am a noob to hempy buckets but I have experience with DWC... and what I have been doing is collecting the run off in a shot glass and testing the ph and ppm of the water draining out. If my ph is low I stop adding ph down to the water until the run-off is where I want. Same thing with PPM, if my run-off is higher than what I am feeding, then I am feeding too much and the plant is not using all the nutes and the salts are building up in the medium.

That's my stoner theory anyway.
