Placed an herbies order 3-29 for a total of 50 seeds came through no problems within 9 days. Next order was two weeks later for a total of 76 seeds and order came through without any hassle again within 8 days...first time ever ordering through them but certainly a great company..(They all went through chicago customs..) Now if My attitude order will just make it thru chi I will be quite happy:)

May I ask how did you pay for your order? As of March no more overseas purchases allowed with gift cards. This is how I like to pay for things online. So if there's another way to pay with a gift card I'm down to order. Thanks.

I have always payed with a credit card...to be honest the whole gift card thing to me never made much sense, if they wanna find ya its not that hard...but I do believe herbies accepts money orders as well and cash? Though I am always skeptical throwing cash in an envelope, but it beats the paranoia of using your card if you get that way....although if it makes you feel better, I have never had any orders ever taken and I order atleast 300$ worth of seeds every month for the past many many years...never had a cop at the door either. Myself personally though I always use a low name credity card/bank so the possibility of them knowing who the order is going to is much less. (small town banks typically dont know whats going on with seed orders) where as large banks could easily red flag it with how many times they see the orders with the company.

Well if your info gets compromised and your card gets scammed they can only use what's on the gift card. That's why for internet purchases I recommend Gift cards.

How much was the shipping?
I believe that Herbie's charges like $15 for guaranteed shipping. I had two make it through and one lost somewhere in my hometown.. but they reshipped Monday and its already made its way through customs. Hoping to have it sometime between Saturday and Tuesday

I just ordered, in April, using a prepaid Visa Debit card, the vanilla visa. Similar to a gift card. Got my order from Herbies, to the SE US in less than 2 weeks.

From the Visa FAQ
Where can I use my gift Card?

You may use your Vanilla Visa Card anywhere Visa debit cards or PULSE cards are accepted within the fifty United States and District of Columbia; however, it does not include the territories of Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam. The Vanilla Visa Card cannot be used at merchants outside of the United States, including the Internet and mail order/telephone order merchants outside of the United States.

Nevermind, not weird at all. There are actually 2 different Vanilla visas. There is the vanilla visa gift card, and the vanilla visa prepaid debit card. The difference is, the debit card is reloadable. Check out www.myvanilladebitcard.com I bought mine at the counter at CVS. Cost about 4 bucks, plus whatever you load on it. When you get home, just go online and register it, then you can use it. Hope this works for you.

I am sorry I should clarify for you a bit better, because many may fall into what your talking about, but for me specifically my bank (with the card I use) has an insurance of which I used once many years ago for exactly what youre talking about. So if my stuff did get stolen, It would not affect me, my numbers would just change and cash redeposited into my account. I dont have to wait for the dispute to get settled...and its an account I use only for this as well, so I always ensure no one can steal my real money, just a little seeded money;)
