Herbs?

A lot of smoke shops and hydroponics store carry "herbs" can anyone educate me on this? ex. syrian rue

A lot of them will have little to no effects and just make a nice smoke. But some like Syrian Rue act as a maoi and besides having its own effects it will potentate some other things. You shouldn't mess with that one unless you know what you are doing.
You should look them all up individually and see which ones spark your interest. Erowid.org is a good place to start.
