i use to get those wen i was a kid :lol: yea they r sick dood, they create a scent flies pick up and r attracted to it then it grabs them and has a acid that breaks em down, a carnivorous plant.

You can't plant Venus Flytraps in regular soil... I found that out the hard way as a kid when I moved one I bought into a huge pot (I wanted a monstrous venus fly trap... seemed like a good idea at the time). They require pretty acidic soil, if I remember correctly.
 
Yes they preferr acidic soils, they became carnivorous due to the lack of nutrient availability. They adapted by taking the nutrients from the environment rather than the harsh soil. Makes you wonder what some plant life could have evolved into without humans present the past 100 to 150 thousand years.
