Here the Idea!

Ok So I was at a buddies and just happened to notice a HUGE wooden TV. One of those old ones... you know what im talkin about if you are over 25. You probably watched ThunderCats and GIJoe on one when you was little. Anyway, I started thinking and 1 thing leads to another... so im about to start gutting this TV to make room for the lights and plants that are going into it. Anything I should be careful for while I am ripping this TV apart without hurting the front glass, or the wooden sides which are in amazingly good shape. Ill get some pics... if anyone is interested or can link me to someone else who has done this.

So Starts Operation Quasar!

Ok. So I got the TV gutted... and there is ALOT of room in there, tho I will lose some of it. My actual space will be aprox. 2' wide x 2' deep... and about 2.5' high. I'm gonna mount a glass piece in there with a fake wall so it will just appear to be a tv that doesnt work. I got pics thru the process, ill upload in a bit. I am going to try and get the wall done tomorrow also. Wood if I can, but if not, I might just use cardboard. If I can use wood, I was thinking 3 lights on the walls... 1L, 1R, 1 on the back in the middle, and im gonna do 2 from above. This box is designed for 2 plants so this setup should get me a good coverage of light on both plants after I cover the entire box in Panda Paper. Does this seem like enough/too many lights? I dont think ill have much of a heat issue, but I got a few PC Fans Ill wire up for air... along with 1 10" clip fan Ill mount the the top. Anything I am missing? Let me know what you guys think... I will keep this updated if you are interested.

Yeah a crazy idea and you haven't mentioned what wattage of lights you are going to use. In that space you need to be looking at something like 250w but if you can get more and keep it cool all the better.

Get some pictures up. What about light leaks? Smell? Wires? I guess this is you trying to be stealthy?

I am going to run a single wire out, the original wire for the TV. From that, I am going to run 1 8plug power-strip. I havent got any lights yet but im gonna run 4 per plant... 1 on either side of the plant and 2 above. I have planty of sockets if I need them. I am looking at around 260Watts with 4n4, 23W/2700k 42W/4100k. If I can keep the temp down, Ill add more. I ordered 2 clones, so when the box is ready... I can throw them right in and start the budding. Going to do some GrandDaddy Purp, this will be my 3rd grow(2nd here on rollitup, and 1st in a box). For light, I am going to caulk everything and put rubber around the back plate that comes off for my door... it WILL be light proof ;) I am not that worried about the smell because im in California and its still in the mid 80's so I am gonna leave the box outside for awile, but eventually if I got to move it in... I found that DIY Carbon Scrubber ZEN that is pretty easy ;) no worries there. And I do have my card, I just dont like EVERYONE knowing my business so this is me being semi-stealthy. Ill get some pics as soon as I can get on my GF's computer. My Linux doesnt like her Camera apparently. so... PICS TO COME. Any more questions?!

So, I didnt get as much done today as I had hoped. No wall, just got more of it apart and the screen back in... I got to get a sheet of wood and build the wall now.

You might try a dry run before putting the girls in there. This allows you to seal light leaks and see if your ventilation is enough or if there is too much :fire:heat buildup. As to odor control I am using this DIY scrubber and it works great. If you set up the whole system prior to getting your ladies you will avoid loads of issues later on.
A good exhaust fan pulling through your scrubber and one blowing on the girls is in my opinion a must for strong stemmed healthy ladies.

Good luck with your TV viewing.

Waiting for the pics

I didnt get pics before I covered everything in Panda Paper, but the wall got completly caulked so no light should escape thru the glass at the front. left the buttons and the connectors all in place, just cut them down as small as possible on the inside. I will be getting my lights in the next few days, Ill let everyone know how it goes.
