What if you go to a fishing store and buy a 24 pack of live earthworms and put them in each 5 gallon bucket. Will they survive and would they help?
 
Subcool of TGA seeds said he did this once, ended up with dried out worms all over his growroom floor. Plus this is just one more thing to complicate your grow, get worm castings if your interested in the benefits of worms. Remember, K.I.S.S.

Get red wrigglers if you can.

ETA: I have found not only the live adults in a harvested plants soil, but their young as well.
 
I only have access to live earth worms 24 per container or night crawlers that come in 12 per container. Night crawlers are huge so idk if they will do good
 
I think at times it would be too wet or too dry and they would leave like danky said above. Also why would you want to? Are you going to feed them veg scrapes?
 
They do eat stuff in the soil and leave worm castings behind which the plants love. Not to mention they dig aeration/drainage holes constantly through the soil. If they die, they are an instant fertilizer stick! lol.
 
Most high end organic soil comes with live red wigglers in it. They are a good thing, but the earth worms and night crawlers will drown or leave. Peace & be kind.
 
If you're worms are drowning, so are your roots...too much water. If the worms are leaving, the soil is too dry, they are looking for water.
