If I am presently lighting my 12/12 from 8 at nite to 8 in the morning and I need that to totally reverse that and start light cycle early mornin to nite, is it possible to gradually bring the light cycle to that by a daily forwarding of the starting time and of course of the end time to keep it at 12/12,

ex: sunday start 9:30 rather than 8:00 and end 9:30 tather than 8:00
monday start 11:00 end 11:00
tuesday start 12.30 end 12.30

I know the 1 1/2hours is a drastic switch, but it serves as an example, and if possible, what is the max forwarding time to consider at once.?

thanks guys, am goin awol with my crop....lol for the hell of it, I want to use the sun as a final gift for my babies will be leaving soon for a 25 day camping trip, with my loved ones and am gonna manually expose them and hide them for a pure 12/12 sunny delight...lol sounds fucked up but imagine the trip, gotta stop dreamin and start livin....lol

so if u guys have any good advice well, I would love to have it.

thanks guys

Personally I would just do the switch straight up, you are risking a bit though.

Best way to actually do it is, leave em in darkness for 24 hours then expose them to the new lighting schedule.

Better to do it that way, they will just think they had a particulary cloudy day.

Thanks widow Maker!!! I am kinda taking it upon myself to try and hit the Newbie section as often as possible, so many questions I see dont get answered, even if alot of them are really stupid/simple I feel I have the patience to answer.

Actually your was a intelligent question that I was pleased to think about and answer...

so simple

You should see some of the others. Dont even know what to say to a guy, that comes on here and says he has three plants in one taco bell cup he has been feeding with water from his fishtank cause his friend told em the ammonia was good for plants, there 3 months old but only a foot tall, all yellow and brown with mites all over em.

what should he do...

you should start a thread of all the ridicolous advice people have heard...I know I've heard some pretty whacked out sh^$!! "take another hit!"..of course half(ok most)of my tricks fall to the left of bizarre; but I only use them if they actually work!

actualy I would dissagree with this, I would extend the light period and keep the darkness at 12 hours always, a longer light time will give the plants a bit of a boost and a longer dark period would make the plants think somethings wrong and maybe make them panic and hermifie. I understood that plants can onlt tell the length of dark as opposed to the length of light. I could be wrong but i dont think so.

I choose not to recomend this strategy for one reason, longer light doesnt nessecarily equal more growth once in the flower stage, this is proven fact that a plant does all it growing 60% into the Day cycle

IMHO More light would cause hermies easier, than a longer dark period.

Because you are starving them of thier needed rest, its easier to sleep in bed all day than stay awake for 24 hours.

Hermaphridism is my specialty in plants. (preventing it that is)

thats cool I will agree to dissagre on that one. At the end of the day its only opinion, i think either way itll be ok its not like hes going to be changing back and forth like this all the time. I think they will be fine either way. Good luck!

Honestly yeah he only had to do it once, and the main idea was not to slowly do it, and just get it there. haha

It wouldnt effect em either way really, something so small as that isnt gonna cause too much stress.

indeed as long as he dont make a habbit of it. I left my 9 week flower girls in 24 hrs of dark at the end of flowering and got seeds, not many but about 15 or so but maybe id left them tooo long to start with lol. there was deffo no males in my room and no sign of hermification. seems like imaculate conception lol.

yeah am gonna switch saturday morning i think, i'm moving saturday so dark cycle starts at 8:30 am , I,m gonna box them then and leave them in dark until sunday morning when i am ready for full sun , shit imagine... I will be sitting in this oasis of natural wildlife with a river right by my camp site and a nice little 16 foot camper with a canoe, shit ! got my dog yesterday , a beautiful bouvier with newfoundlander , so the babies will get at least 18 days of pure sunlight , keeping the 12/12 going but manually, the millenium get flushed from now on anyway so that makes it easy, for the white widow its gonna be fert water for the remainder of june then flush for two weeks too, so in all I am leaving on a 30 odd day camping trip, just me , my wife and my dog, wow I must of died and gone to heaven...lol
