Stoner idea beware:bigjoint:.......I have a Blueberry (dj short), it came from a clone. I have since cloned it. If i wanted to force a plant to hermie to obtain seeds to further look into the different phenos, would it be like having imbred kids? :eyesmoke:

hrmm that doesnt sound ideal lol. Never heard fo someone trying to force a hermie. I would just try find a male bb or even just some pollen. If you do try to 'force herm' let us know what happens lol. gl

Yeah you can definitely force hermie. Either with stress from light leaks and under and over wat. But the best way to do it is to apply colloidal silver as a foliar spray this is how some primitive seed companies make feminized seeds.

This would not be a good way to express all the phenos. The offspring would probably be even more stable and look more uniform than the seeds before it. You need to introduce new allels from the same cultivar/strain to see all the phenos.

Just grow more seeds if ya want a diff pheno. Lamp

hermy plants make hermy seeds.
unless it was a female forced hermie... like hes sayin and yes even then you will get some herms but most will be feminized. And its even possible to get males since cannabis doesn't use the X:Y system of sex determination, they use the X:A. Lamp

no, hermy plants make hermy seeds.

feminized seeds are made by finding a female that will NOT hermy under stress. then they use chemicals to cause male flower to grow.

if you are seeding hermies with themselves you will get hermies. you might as well use real males. :roll:

X:A what?

I know you know your shit, but im telling you you are wrong. People force a natural female to hermie using colloidal silver all the time. They do this to try to produce femized seeds. Its a primitive method though and makes room for genetictically predisposed hermies, although at a low percentage. Natural hermies will produce hermie seeds no doubt. But hes talkin a female forced hermie, so it would only have genes that would express the female sex.

Yes XA, you know how normally a female part contains XX and male XY, even in alot of plants. Well a latter discovered system called XA was discovered. Basically the difference in humans is we have 22 pairs of autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes. Same for plants (diff autosome though). The Sex chromosomes are X and Y female XX, Male XY. Autosomes are non sexual chromosomes. But in cannabis it only has one sex chromosome and then the rest is dependent upon the autosome and how they react to their enviroment. So sex is much more complicated. Lamp

I think we are all agreeing, he said quote;

" wanted to force a plant to hermie to obtain seeds"

And thats what im stressing.

Anyway the whole point of the post is will this be a good way of expressing a strains phenotypes and the short answer is no, you should just grow more seeds. Lamp
