Hermie questions

Hello all Happy Holidays,

Got a few questions about hermie plants, Are seeds collected from a hermied plant feminized? (someone told me that. sounds nuts tho)

And if my mother is a hermie then plants in bloom that were taken from her should show both sex signs early on correct?

My last crop turned hermie on me and I thought it was due to me leaving lights on for 48 hrs during week 2. But now i'm in week 6 of new crop and i'm concerned. This will be my 3rd crop and I just dont know what i'm looking at. My first crop was lets just say lucky to survive and 2nd crop was hermied. I will post pics tonight (lights off now)

They'll be female, that's how they make feminized seeds. They may be more prone to becoming a hermie though. A lot of growers are anti-feminized seeds for a variety of reasons, though. Some say they're weaker, and it hurts the gene pool, etc, etc. Still, it takes a lot of work out of the process and saves space...

I dont know if I should keep my mother and try again (never cleaned room between grows) or just trash it and start over. Dont think I can take 3 crops of hermies tho. They are in their 6th week right now and just recently noticed a problem. Think my mom ok?

Try again but this time clean everything in the flowering room. Try to make everything as near perfect as you can..... no light leaks, correct temp etc. If ur sure you have done what you can to eliminate the chance of plant stress and you get hermies again then I would get rid of the mother at this point.

if your seed had the potential to herm in its genetics, then so do its offspring. if i were you, i would just go order a 5pack or 10pack of some good quality genetics from a reputable breeder and never look back ;)

It seriously sucks but I came to the decision to do just that JC. Chopped down my mother and the ones in veg. Luckily I have two other plants going of a different strain. Waiting for the 6th, Attitude is having a special. This time im going to start a journal (think i can figure it out) and would hope you all can give some advice. Dont think I can handle another bad crop. Been a year and all i have is crap. arrgghhhhh... need to medicate

Thanks

honestly, when i first started, i also started with seeds i had saved from good bags of great stuff. the problem for me was the occasional herm would hit up the whole room, and id have a bunch of seeded beasts. it was frustrating to say the least and honestly the first time i thought maybe i had caused it.

after almost a year of trial and error i got some seeds from a grower i know and trust and grew those with much success. when i finally ran out of those seeds, i decided to have a friend order me 2 packs from attitude. after seeing my friends success i started making my own orders.

what im trying to say is that everything that is happening to you and that you are experiencing on these past grows is normal for starting out, and that your on the right path (especially since your on RIU ;) ) now the next big question is what to get. Attitude doesnt make seeds, they are a middle man for you and a ton o breeders. some Breeders id look at over there include Gage Green, Mosca, TGA, DJ Short, Mr Nice

good luck!
