Its great to have a community like this to share knowledge with, etc. I joined to have somewhere to ask for help, also to learn and contribute where I can. I'm having trouble understanding when and how much nutrients to feed...this is my first grow. I'll do some searches, if anyone wants to share too that would be awesome.

People usually find their program and stick with that.

Will this be soil , aero, or hydro?

And Welcome!

Thanks guys. Ill be using soil.
Well, there are a few ways to look at soil growing from the reading I have done.

1.) It's just dirt and any growth comes from adding fertilizers to it.
2.) It's good dirt and will be using a formula off the shelf feeding program.
3.) It's not just dirt and will be using the living biology to provide nutrients.

If 1.) then feeding Nitrogen early means more vegetation can be made to happen since fertilizers are chemical basically. Then once the plant is ready ( alternating nodes ) people switch to more K of the NPK to promote flowering.

if 2.) there will be directions for use and when to use the other products in the line up.

if 3.) then any soil mix is best augmented with additional materials like minerals and micro-nutrients while the basic of N-P-K are also added in the form of natural materials like bone meal or alfalfa meal and the work of converting that to usable ions and transferring nutrients to the roots is handled by living micro-organisms under the control of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhizosphere

Most folks like to follow a formula program when they start out I have found.

I have to get my board up and start posting on composting and organic materials.

So what style will you follow if you don't mind saying.

It's all good.
