Hello, all.

I am a member at Grass City and I found a link to this website from there. I am trying to collect as much information as I can before making the commitment to my first-time indoor grow.

I am 54 years old and have used MJ for 40 years. I am no stranger to the plant. I even grew some in the old days -outdoors from seed. I never really got any good results -duh! ;)

But I made the decision to go with a tent grow in a room in my basement.

I know there are many DIY LED lights out there that would probably be a LOT less money and perform just as well as a store-bought one….but I don't want to go through all that would be required for a DIY project.

With that said, I have decided to get a 3 X 3 Hydrohut Silver series 3 X 3 tent

For lighting, I want to get an Advanced XML Diamond series with the newly-added 10 watt Cree white LEDs. From what I've read, I don't think I will need supplemental lighting for that size tent…but IF I do, then I'll probably go with a Kessel 150.

I'm still looking at fans and filters…and am considering the Phresh 6" inline fan (the little blue one) and their appropriate matching charcoal filter.

I plan on using a pre-mixed organic "super soil".

I plan on trying to pop some old bag seed that I have been saving from the old days…no idea if the seed is still viable or not.

It will be for my personal use only and kind of just a fun project if nothing else.

Any tips that anyone can lend me would be greatly appreciated! If you have any criticisms of the equipment I have chosen then please break it down for me. I want to learn!

Thanks!

Hola! I am a new member here as well.

3x3 grow tent in a basement, all natural growing medium, your off to a great start IMO.

6 inch inline fan is more than you will need for a 3x3. I personally would first consider a 4 inch inline fan.
Are you going to be in a position where odor will be an issue? If not, a carbon filter is unnecessary. There is no need to filter the exhaust line if smell is not a problem. Filtering the inline is more important to me. If you want to spend money on a carbon filter, I recommend spending it on a carbon water filter. If you are on city water and you are going to be running a all natural medium I would highly recommend this over anything else.

Lighting should be easy to figure out with that size of space. I personally have not been uptodate on LED's lately. I do know that many people have been getting great results from them recently. There is a company called Stealthy Samaritan that produces some very high quality and effective LED units from what I have heard, seen and understand. Ive seen some very excellent grows done with their(SS) first prototype units. Google them. They are very pricey so maybe you can find more info here about other brands and companies. I think most of Stealth Samaritans units would be overkill for a 3x3 space.

What kind of water source are you going to be using?

def a good idea on the 4" fan. a filter/scrubber is up to the grower. it does help move the air and deodorizes at the same time.
also get yourself some good genetics. years old bag seed is probably NOT viable and if it yields mediocre results you're only cheating yourself. decent seeds don't cost a lot. so treat yourself bro you're certainly deserve it.
