HID for closet?

right now im using cfl's but i want to upgrade to a HID system for flowering in the near future. my closet is 4x6x8 and i have to veg and flower in the same room. will probably flower 3-5 plants at a time. cant go too overboard cuz its not my house. what would be a good wattage to look into? thanks....

How do you plan on keeping the temp under control? Air? it not being your house and all, I don't expect you'll be drilling out holes in the wall or plan on keeping the closet door open all the time.

right now i keep the door partially open with the cfl's but have the stuff to put in a ceiling fan. i dont have to be stealthy or nothing, its family i stay with and they know whats up. just cant be blatant about it. will have to install a filter too but thats later. and ive already remodeled whole closet for grow with upper and lower chambers. atm im veggn' with cfl's but will be getting a T-5 grow light. so in the same closet i'll have veg chamber(lower and small) with 2 4' T-5 bulbs, completely closed off and vented. then i want HID for flower chamber(upper larger). temps where i live are HOTT and humid so heat stress will prob be my greatest enemy.

I just kitted out a closet that was larger than yours and i had a 125mm fan going through the ceiling and with my 600 watter temps got into the 100.f marks i changed to a 400 and temps droped to the 90.f marks I had to dismantle my closet and build a wardrobe grow with an air cooled hood!! temps are at 80.f marks now!! if your going to use that closet get good intake and out take and id go no higher than a 400..

its possible just have to have ventilation its well worth it thou but probably wont be able to flower and veg in there unless you throw in a cupboard but that may take up too much space

Depends of what type of plants he's growing!! easyest thing to do in there would be to get a 400 watt hps and a 125 watt cfl and grow the same strain im doing now!! its an auto but a good auto!! ends up any where between 30'' and 48'' tall and i get 2-3 ounce dry per plant under my 600 watt.. There done in 10 weeks from sprout so he could get a continues grow going where he plants grows for 5 weeks then put those plants under the hps and then puts new ones under the CFL that way giving him a harvest every 5 weeks!!

thanks for the suggestions...i have a bench built already that will fit a 4' t-5 w/2 bulbs and im gonna close it off with seperate vents. i like the sound of the 400 due to heat issues. will definately put in adequate vents whichever way i go. can anyone tell me of an easy to use not too damn expensive unit?

You might want to look into a DIY cooltube design for aiding in getting rid of some heat. I use a 400w Lumatek digital ballast, an HPS bulb, a homemade cooltube, and a 400CFM fan to keep my cabinet at 84F lights on and 70F lights off.
