When newbies show up here most of their questions get answered by other newbies that think they know whats up, because the experience growers are tired of repeating themselves .So you might get a bunch of misleading info from newbies. It's best to read the grow faq's first.:peace:

flouro lites are cheap as shit and you can get grow plants very close..Get a high output one if u are gonna go that way. MY indoors grew faster in one week under hps, then the floura 24/7 for a month..flouro good for a veg or secondary lighting, i dunno if they got the lumens to produce the nugs u can get with the Hps godly llite.

$165 from HTG supply my 400w hps= 55,000 lumens (less then 1.5 feet)
$289 8 lamp 4'(htg) t5 Flourescent..= 40,000 lumens (Fucking huge)

with the facts on lumens and for the money.. i bought the hps .. they got nice package that includes nice timer mh conversion bulb for veging, refelctor and such.. if i was to get another light i would get the temperglass sealed in line aircoolabe refelctor.. room was hot as shit but it is small

You definitely can go an entire grow with CFLs, and you will produce some bud. But when you compare it to what an HPS can do, it's a way better value to do that. You'll get more quality bud faster. Yeah you'll be spending $100-$200 more, but it's a one time investment for equipment that you will hopefully use many times.

No shit!!! Smoker is right. I went to a hydroponic shop lastnight to get a squirrel cage fan and couldnt believe the price of the lights. You can save money by shopping online. We have another shop nearby that I will check out tonight. They are suppose to have better prices, if they suck I am ordering online. a fully setup 400 HPS online is around 200 plus shipping; that store wanted 330. WTF. I got the fan though, and also realized that my next grow is going to be hydro!!!!! I was in heaven, never wanted to leave the shop.. lol

Definitely. I went to my hydro shop the other day and they were selling a 600W HPS with cooling reflector for $350 when I can get the same thing online plus an inline fan and timer for $280.

I only buy my nutes at the hydro shop, maybe some hydroton and net pots. The big stuff is purchased online. More competition online = lower prices.

i got my friend a 400whps last week for 100$ but everything in bc is cheaper in the shops than online i pay'd 220 for my 1000w hps with tax from a shop

lucky you the best deal ive found so far is about $150 for a 400watt hps on ebay. then again canada has a lot of competition because growing marijuana is a lot more tolerated there than in most of the us

oh shit yeah. id be interested to see what you guys pay for nutes. i get advanced in gallon jugs for 20$ a piece, so $60 for grow micro and bloom in 4 liter jugs, from a shop. vortex fans for 150 squirrel cage style but in plastic so there much lighter and quiet 265cfm for $110. fuckin pricey seeds though but atleast we have storefronts to shop from for seeds here
