Hey all! It is nice to see people taking interest in CBD strains. The truth is there is no medicine more powerfull than cannabidiol. I believe your question was "what CBD rich strains are available." While there have been recent breeding programs to develop CBD rich strains there are nowhere near enough strains when compared to the THC rich strains. Cannatonic from Resin seeds is around 7% Dolce Canna otherwise known as La Sanadora yet to be released by Resin seeds is 10.2%. Juanita la Lagrimosa from Reggae Seeds is 8%. Shantibaba has a new, high CBD strain from Mr Nice, this strain is called The Remedy (Cannatonic x Afghan Skunk) and has been in development for the last 2 years. It's a joint venture between Shantibaba and Jaime from Resin Seeds, and will be released sometime this year. Soma has Rock Bud also known as Soma A+ and is testing around 5% CBD. The problem with most of these is that only around 1/4 of the seeds germinated are the CBD Pheno. I have also included a chart with a few strains that are clone only CBD Queens. But most exciting is a Gunjaneer by the name of DocD that has been working with CBD rich strains for years and supposedly has stabilized his seeds achieving a perfect ratio of CBD phenos. DocD is also intending to make his debut this year! Please post any other questions you might have with regards to CBD it truly is a miracle!!!

chechero - Nice post mate, the problem with the strains you have put up is none have a high thc content aswell as CBD. Your right we have learned to produce plants with high thc and keep them stable but i dont want a drop in thc so that there can be more cbd as the thc is the most psychoactive cannabinoid. The cbd only influences the effects in the high created by the thc and i have noticed that high thc strains with high cbd content really pack a punch, they do on me anyway.

we will likely never see 24%THC 24%CBD genetics as CBD & THC share precursors. Their relationship is inversely proportional so that one is always at the expense of the other. The ratios is what's it's all about.

Juiced Marijuana Offered to Medical Users as Alternative to Smoking
June 15, 2010

A California physician is offering his medical-marijuana patients a liquefied version of the drug that he says won't produce much of a buzz but does contain chemicals helpful in treating a variety of illnesses, the Washington Post reported June 1.Willets, Calif., physician William Courtney, M.D., said that marijuana with high levels of cannabidiol (CBD) seems to have the most medical potential; ironically, CBD levels seem to be lowest in marijuana strains of the plant that are highest in THC -- the main psychoactive substance in marijuana.

"What has happened is, almost all strains available in America through the black market are THC concentrates," said Ethan Russo, senior medical adviser to GW Pharmaceuticals, which is developing the marijuana-based pain medication Sativex. "The CBD in almost all cases has been bred out. The reason is cannabis in this country has been cultivated for its intoxicating effect."

Medical-marijuana advocates want to see more research into CBD. "The bridge to legalization is medical marijuana," said Addison DeMoura, one of the owners of the Steep Hill Medical Collective in Oakland. "I believe the bridge from medical marijuana to real science will be CBDs."
Why Modern Medical Cannabis Strains have Minimal CBD

Sam the Skunkman says that nearly all modern cannabis is pretty much CBD-free or the levels are so low as to be miniscule, landrace indicas are the way to go.

Right now there's simply no strains available where cbd will make up more than 2% of the overall cannabinoids (.5% of the flower weight) and no way of cultivating a noticeably higher cbd content. For the most part conversion of cbg into cbd is controlled by a single gene (Bd) which is codominant with the gene that converts cbg into thc. For example a plant that inherits a Bd gene from one parent and a Bt gene from the other will have roughly equal content of Cbd and Thc. However, if the plant is homozygous for Bd it will have very little thc and if its homozygous for Bt it will have very little Cbd.

While it is true that afghani landraces can have a high cbd content. Since having a Bd gene will replace half of the thc content with cbd seed companies always remove the Bd allele from the gene pool in order to maximize thc potency and stay competitive.
I'd like to poke both the Olsen twins at the same time ...... but it looks like we're both pretty much out of luck when it comes to what we want, doesn't it?

Good 1 brick top, gona save me doin my nut tryin to find one.
I cannot remember the strain name right now but the highest CBD percentage I can think of off the top of my head is 2.3%, though there might be a couple that are slightly higher, and most are not only under 2% some are like .2% If I can remember the strain name I will let you know .. and as low as that sounds, by today's standards, thanks to 'The Dutch Masters' spending years and years and years trying to create nothing more than Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and stripping modern strains of CBD in the process, 2.3% is considered a high percentage.
