HLG-320H-C3500 drivers out in april

no the new meanwell 320s are about 90%-91% per the preliminary datasheet in the first post of this thread
seems the newer bigger hlgs- Cs lose a little bit in efficiency compared to the 185s,120s.
good to keep in mind when designing a light.

yes which is why i went 600H its the best.

greater than 96% efficiency all the way down to 50% load

just trying to twist my mind to the #'s on the new stuff

Dont you mean the 2800 model?
The 3500 will run constant in over voltage mode for 3 x 36v cobs i think , or is this no problem?

my MO is to come in hot with less cobs at 50% efficiency (oh so horrible right, lol), and expand out to a more efficient array after first crop

phase 1 ($2200):
5x9 tent
3x HLG-600H drivers
24 cobs@ 2.1A, 75W per cob
~900 PPFD depending on bin (8x 3000k BD, 8x3500k CD, 8x 4000k DB)
1800W at wall
(6) 4.85" x 48" heatsinkusa active heatsinks, 4 cobs per (sized for future passive utility)

future: evaluate the 3 bins above and build out tent efficiency by adding cobs based on the results. so lets just say i find my magic bin/color temp and go with it

phase 2 ($2000 more):
same tent, same 3 drivers, same 6 heatsinks and add 36 more cobs and 4 more heatsinks and do 6 cobs per heatsink
60 cobs
max mode (1120 ppfd): 0.9A/30W per cob @ 62% eff
normal mode (880 ppfd): 0.7A/23W per cob @ 64.4% eff

key points:
-600W driver has a low inrush current (70A) relative to the HLG-185 series (55A each) and reduces ancillary electrical equipment
-600W driver is most efficient in class, 96% across the board from 50-100% load
-high current driver lets me run at any current i want, as ill prob change my mind 6x in the future
-not a woman and 17A@36V doesnt scare me

yes i mean the 2800 model. 3500 is a benchmark but an anomaly in our 36V cob world. it can run 2@3.5A at 84% load on that driver

obviously the 3 @ 2800ma using 98% of the driver is better

Meanwell emailed me a few days back and told me the first of May. Remains to be seen though. PAIRUI drivers that cutter supplies has a 250 version with amperages STARTING at 1400 and goes all the way to 4200. If you want high currents, you don't need to wait.

So Greengenes707, now I am lost. Bobby said 42V, For this 3 COB bar 36V @ 2.8 what driver should i get? 36 or 42V? Keeping in mind I am looking for a single driver per bar.

The 3 COB 300W-ish and the 2 COB 200W-ish.

Are you running in series or parralel? That's your deciding factor. Go with series

I Believe The 240's Are 91% Efficient The Soon To Be Released Meanwell 320's Are 94% Just As The ECU-320 Are 94% Efficient. Yes They Are More Expensive With A Higher IP67
I Stand Corrected The Rating For The MW And Inventronics Are 92% @120 And 94% @240

P.S. Either Get Glasses or Put The Jack Rag Away :P

Is there any driver that will run just TWO 36V 3590's @ 2.8?
the 'C' in the HLG-320H-C2800 means constant current. which means if you put 1 or 2 or 3 cobs on there (in series) and they will each run at 2.8A. 4 wont run at all as the voltage is too low

the other driver (HLG-320H-36B) is a constant voltage driver (36ish). cobs are wired in parallel
you hook one up, it blows up
you hook two up, they blow up
you hook 3 up, they run at 8.9A/3= 2.97 A
you hook 4 up, they run at 8.9A/4= 2.23 A
you hook 5 up, they run at 8.9A/5= 1.78 A
etc

I like it man, damn i wish i had the $ to put up to build half that first light for my flower room.
