This already doesn't make sense because PPF isn't a measure of incident light on an object, it is a measure of total output.

Dr. Bruce Bugbee can do a better job than me at explaining synergistic effects of a complete lighting spectrum if you care to delve into the subject. And I honestly don't know what lettuce likes, I don't grow lettuce. :) Gl

Highly unlikely you’ll find a side by side since these were out of date years ago and most have moved on to quantum boards since.

Can you post up some of your grows you’ve done with the black dog? If you search quantum grows into here you’ll find hundreds to reference.

Okay, well, yes and no. PPF is the total output of a certain light fixture. Knowing the area on which this light hits, we can calculate the average PPFD for this light at a certain distance. Then if we know the area of the plant leaves exposed to this light, we multiply this leaves area by the previously obtained PPFD and we arrive at the PPF incident on the the plant leaves and not the total PPF from the light source. That's how it goes.

Thanks for the suggestion, but as I said in an earlier post, I watched almost all of his very informative videos. Information slip my mind though so it will be a good refresher if I watch them again.

Oh God, I wouldn't buy this BlackDog Light in a million years! What I have are cheaper LED lights that have a a similar spectrum as BlackDog's although mine are lacking in two area: they don't have much blue light as BlackDogs and they also lack a little in the green spectrum but still they work amazingly well!

I color corrected the camera before I took this photo, but to the human eye the light actually looks blue-red. So as I said, these cheaper LEDs work very fine for me.

A few months ago I set up two growing tents for a friend of mine who doesn't know anything about growing, one for veg and one for flower. I went with the old and trusted MH and HPS, effective and cheap. So I'm not like an LED fanatic by any means. I just go with whatever works. That said, I'm having a stretching issue in his flowering tent so we are going to install a small MH light along with the HPS, is this a viable solution to stop stretching under HPS? I didn't have this issue with stretching with my LEDs though.

Edit: I should mentioned that's he's growing pure sativas though, but still the stretching is just insane.

Edit again: feed is maxibloom and MOAB at the moment so very little nitrogen.

How far is the light? Pure sativas will stretch insanely no matter what you do. You can top them to bush them out. What strain?

If you want to stop stretch, defoliate. A lot. At flip. Like this.

The light was initially about 30" because it runs so damn hot but now those plants just shoot through and are about to touch the top of the tent, very sad to see. I'm not able to do anything because I visit my friend like once a month and he's kinda clueless about this stuff.

They are bagseed actually, I now think it's a mistake that we just went with those instead of finding a good strain. I swear they more than tripled in height!

Tell him to look up super cropping. .Smoke had a good idea about defoliating before flower. Make sure he has enough root space, and flip soon, sounds like a long wait for flower

Thanks for this super-cropping idea. I read about it in the past but never used it. I will give it a try.
