Holy local hydroshop! Expensive but rapido! I got my pro-mix bh! How do i mix it????

Broke down and went to the local Hydro store after my ordering mix up( I ordered a 3.8 cubic ft of Advanced #4 Coco , not understanding coco would require different nutes from the HESI line( I had already purchased the soil starter pack)

Tried to bring the #4 back and see if they would give me a store credit..no such luck...but I did see the Canna nutes I needed for a coco grow so Im just going to stick the coco coir under my house and save it for the future.

I purchased Pro-Mix with Mic because they did not have Sungro Sunshine mix#4 with the blue label...but they did have all the FOX FARM stuff..but Im a little weary of nute burn being a newbie..


SO my question is...I have some azomite, perlite and the Pro-Mix...should I include some lime?

Pro-Mix - perlite ratio??? Should I use a tbsp of azomite for my 3 gallon transfer, or will this be too hot for 3 week old seedlings?

PS ..why would you buy a light system from the HYDRO store when they're twice as expensive as Amazon or Ebay? What a mark-up!

Yeah... the few shops we got that are kinda near me, about an hour away, they're wicked expensive... but I get what I want right away and I don't have to worry about the normal pitfalls that happen with mail order.

The ones on ebay are junk quality 9 out of 10 times. Get one and have the ballast go out in a month and try to return it. They wont take it back. But most hydro stores will give you 1-3 months warranty. You pay for the quality and the fact you dont have to wait 10 plus days to get your order. But yes they are expensive.

I guess the Dro shop will work, say if your bulb blows or something crazy happens...but my I power set-up for $230 delivered in 3 days with free shipping(it was HERE on the 3rd day!) works awesome!

Ipower 600 dimmable ballast(reallly was awesome for seedlings...50% power for a couple days, 75% power, on to 100%)
2 Ipower bulbs MH AND HPS
Awesome hood that was 149 alone in the hydro store!
timer and pulleys that work great.

I added it up at the dro store..would have cost me close to $500 bucks...Ill buy another Ipower ballast for $90 bucks if it goes out...but the return warranty through Amazon is spectacular! Al the reviews said they're customer service is AMAZING!

Sometimes off-brand companies make a good product that isn't over priced to sell to the masses. Ipower is cool with me. They have 400 watt packages with a shitty reflector starting at under $175! Great price to get started...after nutes and soil, etc..you can keep it under $500:leaf:

To answer the OP's question:

Don't worry about azomite until it's a teen. The promix will feed the seedling until it's about 4-5" tall. Add dolomite lime until promix reads 6.3 pH, 6.5-7.0 for organics. pH the soil by taking a small sample and mixing with ph'd water (6.5) and measure that. Keep adding lime, mix the soil and re test until you are within the specified range. Only add a cup of azomite to a entire bale of promix, so 1 tsp for 3 gallons. You really can't go overboard with perlite, I personally use a 3:1 ratio of promix to perlite mixed in.
