yea very difficult....although it is easier now then it was a few years ago. i remember paying $700 for a screen replacement in a laptop.

i love building computers. i think i may have to stop being stubborn and scared of the laptops and jump back into laptop repair. lord knows it hella money in it! seems like i can charge more to work on laptop than desktops

Yeah loads of money in laptop repair but really to avoid serious kickings lol you need to be properly qualified to take peoples laptop babys and offer to fix them.
Your talking about 5 years training to be able to call yourself anything more than a memory fetcher when dealing with laptops.

I know someone who does it and they are loaded but they say it is a nightmare as they have to learn about a new quirky laptop every week:cry:
Damn boring hard work to stay in the game, lots of money though:blsmoke:

i lost my laptop this year....well last year.

i had a gateway tablet m500 (i think) well when i was in college, i used to swivel the screen and use it as a tablet. i could have sworn i didnt use it that much. but obviously not. the hindge (mind you, the only thing that is holding the screen and base together) went to shit. the hindge sliced and diced the wires to the monitor harness. $165 four wire cable, bought the fucking cable, just to put it in and find out when the hindge sliced the wire, it shorted out everything just about. talk about fucking heated!

great thing i was able to backup my harddrive.

Get some old giveaways, from Craigslist or something. They're really not that hard. The bitch, from everything I've looked into as a non-professional, is getting the parts. We did a kind of cannibalization to put together the l/t I'm using right now, from a couple of old Dells that were being tossed. I even managed to salvage the OS as it is (don't have an XP disk), although I'd love a faster CPU. I'd also really super-dig it if I could get into the home server via any Windows box. :? What the hell is it about the Samba that he's running?

While I've just about burned through my total space on the H/D, the computer I built for myself several years ago is still going strong, despite a few OS changes. :D
