Homebrew CO2 does it work?

without proper testing l guess well never know.

But there is science behind it.......
For every glucose there are 6 carbon,
So 2kg sugar 4 yeast packs 8 days is.....
24kg co2 over 8 days, with losses...
Id count as minimal, is all alcohol when done.
20kg CO2 over 7-8 days depending on change out.
Over 1080 useable ppf. Figure Co2 is sitting between....
800-1500 depending on time of day and buildup.
Only flush humidity and CO2 for 2 hrs a day.
1 hr before and after lights out.
Do not open tent for at least 1 hr after lights on.
Will suck up all available buildup of Co2 at lights on, l give hour.
This all started because of leds, good leds need CO2.
Anything over 1000 even se hps in 4x4 needs Co2 to grow well and handle heat stresses.
For 2kg of sugar and 2 dollars in yeast, squirt of ketchup too.
You have Co2 for a week in 4x4.
I introduced it within a week of recieving leds.
Found homebrew grows them best.
Average 7-10 bubbles per second approx.
Bad eyes, old.
Each bubble 1cm 3ed .
In 4x4 16 sqare feet x 4 feet approx light height now.
McGyver fan to suck Co2 from floor into canopy, so roots get less Co2 this way.
Canopy more!
15gal used water bottle, full as can be.
I use very warm water almost hot
Airhose going to waterbottle as filter and visual indicator of health of homebrew.
Need to make good seal at bottle, tape works.
Co2 is heavier than O2, make it rain down on plants.
I put above light under fan in centre.
It does work, so if you have problems with learning curve of leds, Co2 is a big help.
2nd crop temp 90 rh 80. Growing better than last crop., no ir heat takes getting used to.
If your strapped for cash or just like more natural way of doing things. This works!

You should have a recirculating tent, which isn't hard to do really...i built a box using styrofoam around my carbon filter, then ported that back into the tent. I only used it a few times...too much of a hassle for not enough reward for us hobby growers...lasted over a month cuz ur just doing a little spritzing...it raises the co2 levels more than youd imagine

I only vent because high rh, done carbonated water too, gives a boost. Cheap too, lemon water more acidic, likes it.

They say sealed rooms control environmentals much better so id guess a sealed tent would do the same...only one way to find out.i never have had issues with RH myself so cant help there

Tried that whole shenanigans starting out many years ago. You get more ethylene than CO2 to be honest. Impossible to get high enough concentration and also impossible to set it at specific value.

Without controls and monitoring you're just shooting in the dark, it's just a lot of work for no real gain IMO. Cheers!

Was watching a seminar by Bruce Bugbee on youtube and he says that he took a C02 meter home to test levels and he had high levels of it all through his home and he traced it to the pilot light in his reservoir heater that he discovered that it spews out lots of it.

I was already homebrewing whent I started to grow in same room. Using a pressurizable fermenter with a diaphragm spunding valve (model : Spundit), I saw I only had to install a piece of tubing between the valve output port (co2 out) and grow tent to get it started.

I first Googled a bit to find someone who tried something similar and from his conclusions in his own setup, I was confident enough I would not get excess co2 in my 4X2 tent (fortunately, he monitored and had actual ppm values). So I now use it evrey brew I do, but only because it is easy and costless in my case. I believe I've seen apparent positive results on the grow but I'm far away from a valid scientific demonstration.

Significative flaws IMO, compared with a regular co2 injection systems, ex :
Does not cover the entire grow cycle, only a few days after a brew day.
Cannot establish a proper cycle such as turning exhaust fan off while injecting co2; so I keep it low at low speed and cross fingers.
Impossible to set specific ppm values, no controller, not sure what it could be with further investments.

So I would not necessarily recommend it except if it is very low added cost and work. Maybe trying slow release co2 bags if one wishes to lower short term costs compared to other injection systems - never tried those bags. Doing no co2 enrichment must be evaluated too.
