I figured so, the 2x2 seemed like a decent thought. 60,000 lum at 5k. but thanks for the input! I figured it was trash

Well here's the thing. For a veg light, sure. It'll do a fine job. It's 5K so why not. I prefer4K but it'd surely work. 3X3 area, tops if it's a 2X2 fixture.

I’m only thinking of using it as a veg light for mother and clones.

Just don’t have the funds to experiment and build my own led set up just yet.

I use the led one in my clone cabinet and where I sprout seeds, works fine for that.I have a mother under a similar light, and it seems ok.Not the best setup, but it works.

The HD highbays are hitting 100lm/w last I checked......can double it with new strips coming out. Think about that for a second, double the output for the same wattage draw.

Yeah lumens are for humans, whatever, you get it

105lm/w, you can do better with HID.

Heat is an issue with my planned setup,. As I can only pull in bedroom air, 68F night, 78 day.

Obviously these things offered at HD aren’t worth the money. I may have to find a cheap way to practice my soldiering skills before trying to build my own of any kind of expense$&.

if heat is a major issue then system efficiency(umol/j, ppf/w) should be a top priority no doubt............get soldering: ) also over spec your exhaust

good luck

Just grab some wire and practice soldering one end to the other, the trick is to use the right solder & iron.

60/40 .20mm (non chinese) solder & a 30-35w iron, if the tip oxidates just clean it off with a moist sponge before moving onto the next pad, tin both the wire & pad before attachment, you'll see what I mean when you practice with wire.

The v2 quantum boards can put out the same amount of light at literally half the power of the light on your first post, the 288v2 board alone is 70$ just need a driver and a way to dissapate heat, might be another $60-100 depending on your salvaging skills.

Btw, 68f-78f might work out for you with a low powered board.

Gosh darn it I chose horticulture to avoid all the dam formulas and mathematics! ;)

Definitely going with a 6” exhaust. Haven’t picked out one yet.

In the “germination” stage of my plans.

Going to borrow my fathers soldering iron today, go pick up some 60/40 .20mm M’urican made solder and see how much trouble I can make for myself.

I’ve come across a few dif boards on Alibaba for around the $70 range you stated.
Not sure if they are up to par who knows with the Chinese suppliers.

Soldering is really just applying the solder to the pad and the wire, separately, touching them together, then pushing down on the connection with the tip to flow the two together. Think of it that way and you'll have an easier time getting it down. But with all the solderless options like Wagos I don't see why you even think you'll need to do it to build a light.

And sir that is why I’m here. Lol cause I don’t know any better.
Im not aware of all the new tech. This is all a new learning curve to me.( building leds)

I’m over reading through the DIY section of the form now. Have learned so much already. I was really excited looking at Samsung’s site and got my mind racing about going through some e-scrap of mine and building a couple badass COB units. Now after seeing the ease of these QBs. Seems like with my height issues, and heat issues are the better way to go.
Now thanks to you I’m going right now and looking at the WAGOs and other options you and a few others mentioned in other threads.

I stuck with ag. business over science to avoid advanced organic chem:cuss:so I feel you.

Should look at the new terrabloom dc exhausts, like a poor mans hyperfan. Initial reviews are fantastic, longevity is unknown obviously(new)....max draw on the 6inch is around 40w
