No! The taste will depend on lot of factor.
-The nutriments you will use and the way you flush them. (Flushing the last 1-2 week with plain PH water)
-The way you cure your buds (3-4 Weeks in mason jar opening them once a day for few minutes.)
-The love you will give to your plants (Avoid stress)
-STRAIN is also a huge factor. (Some strain will have their specific smell and some will smell more earthy while some will smell more like pine sol, candy & many other)
Take all that in consideration and you will see that it can change lot

I think whoever told you that was smoking very poorly cured bud.
Yep, as others said, if you don't cure properly then it won't taste right, and curing is an often overlooked process for a new grower.
The hay smell is typically something I associate with fermentation. Usually it's associated with buds that weren't properly dried before being packaged, or bud that has been packaged too tightly.

I don't about any weed that taste like that but anything grown and cured the right way won't taste like hay.

flush buds good. dry buds slow ... cure buds long
