horse pooh mushrooms

first off, i'm an experienced shroom grower.

and wow. i don't know where to even begin with this thread.

but let me see if i can try.

1. u are not going to go buy or shovel some horse poop, and magicly have magic mushrooms appear.

2. there is a jar formula that you can use to skip the horse poop step. and some of the people here were trying to explain that to you. it is known as the BRF tek, or PF tek.

it consitsts of brown rice flower, vermiculite and water. mixed in a bowl, and then loaded into half pint mason jars. which then need to be sterilized in a pressure cooker. you inoculate your jars with the spore syringes that you can order from a vendor. after the jar is 100% colonized, you then dunk it underwater for 24 hours, then roll it in dry verm. mist and fan it 3 times a day and you will have your shrooms.

this method is easier, and you dont have to spawn or layer anything. and no poop is needed.

you can order these jars pre-sterilized from mushbox
pre-sterilized brf jars

i recommend the special 4 pack "they choose" from sporeworks for $34 thats $8.50 a syringe, your not going to find a better deal then that. the catch is, you don't get to choose the strain. but unlike weed, for the most part, all the strains are the same, or at least very similar in potency. so it makes little difference.

people were asking "what can i use instead of horse poop?" you could use straight vermiculite in equal proportions to your wild bird seed jars. and that would give you shrooms. this is known as the "rez effect" tek.

you could also use coco coir, which is also used in some hydro grows, so you all might be familular with it. you just mix it with a little more then a gallon of boiling water per coir brick, and you need to cook it on the stove till it reaches 170* for 90 min. then wait for it to cool, then you can layer that with your wbs spawn.

and no, dont go cutting up a bunch of brooms.

ill try to answer any other questions you all might have.
also check out "shroomtalk" they are very friendly over there.

I'm talking about growing them indoors, I know things don't have to be completely sterile outdoors, that's a whole 'nother animal.

However, outdoors is totally different from growing indoors you can't compare the two, there are other things at play keeping the trichoderma and such at bay.
right

thats why i said go with brf first keep things simple

what about a good soil
layering the wbs tek with soil

nah, you dont wan't soil.

use vermiculite or coir.

and it sounds like you really want to go the bulk method.

so after you spawn the wbs jars (quart jars work good) to verm or coir, (verm is easier) your going to want "jiffy's seed starter mix" (which is verm and peatmoss that is ph adjusted) as a casing layer, which means after the fungus colonizes the coir/verm put a half inch layer of the seed starter mix on top. this will help hold moisture near the top.

also a word about the sterile thing. what the other guy was trying to say. is that when you take a print from the wild, there are a high chance of there being contaminates. and your sterile indoor environment is not like the un-sterile outdoors. when you introduce the contaminates to your sterile indoor conditions, they will flourish and grow and spread. with nothing to stop them. and you will end up growing nothing.

this dosnt happen outdoors, because there are other mico-organisams that combat, and compete with the contaminates. to keep them from spreading. thats why you dont see tons of green mold, and cobweb mold all over everything outside.
