Hospital will call DSS on your ass!

So I learned today that the hospital I am working in has a policy to call DSS on mothers who use MJ (test positive) and whose babies test positive for THC (take a urine sample without consent). Now I don't see how MJ can be good for you or a baby, but they hand out percocet's like candy on the post partum floor!! I mean wtf, MJ harm to babies is most definatly not supported by research, where as the harmful effects of opiates and other "legal" drugs are well known and widely accepted. Thou probably inappropriate I pointed this out in the middle of a meeting when this topic was brought up. Here's an interesting research study seemingly well performed on the topic of MJ effects on neonates.

Like I said I couldn't help myself from making a comment in the middle of a meeting, we are supposed to be a research driven facility and they are pulling this kinda shit. Now crack, heroin, and many pharms I can see intervening, but MJ harm to fetus or infant is far from definitive, in fact the study I posted suggests other wise and it was a well done study.

Im glad they call social services,a mother who smokes,drinks,pops pills or any other shit is an asshole to start with,im not focusing on mj either,the whole idea of an expectant mother doing any substance is sheer stupidity & dangerous to the childs well being.

I have total contempt for mothers who get high or drunk while they carry a child.

No, I agree with him. We might all love marijuana here, but there are things you don't do while growing a baby (in hydro I might add lol).

Don't hate me for this panhead, but in ancient times, marijuana was used for all kinds of pain relief including labor. Now I have heard it can speed up the delivery as well,because it does relax muscles.I'm gonna go look for that right now. I've heard of a wo0man who used it for morning sickness, and one who smoked for the first time during her pregnancy when she went into labor. Lemme find some links.

I read the article but it played no part in my comments,i put very little faith in any study when it comes to newborn's,to me its a situation where the risk factor is so great that any unhealthy activity should be avoided at all costs.

I cant see the benifit in a pregnant woman taking any drug,even most the shit doctors try to feed them,including doctor reccomended mj,to me this is a case where the other person (unborn child) does not have a voice on what is going inside its body,the parent to be should air on the side of caution or abstinance at all times.

but you agree with epidurals?

with all due respect panhead.....what do you think they were using way back in the old days when all this medicine shit wasnt here yet? there were only natural remedies.

are you saying women should be pain reliever free? if so, i'd like to see you deliver a baby without comfort!

Ive been through 3 child births with my wife,granted i didnt have the children myself but i was there and i experienced everything she did except the pain, but i know alot about pain.

I could not care less what benifit it has for the parent,thats an irrelevant issue with me,my focus is on the person who cant say yes or no to the drugs being forced into their body & that's the baby.

I think sometimes we go overboard on this forum searching for justification to use mj for everything in sight,expectant mothers doing any drug is an abhorant thought to me.

I agree loudblunts. During my first labor, it was 25 hours of back labor. I was afraid, alone, and humiliated...and on top of that, people got to watch me beg for pain relief but give me none...mind you, I was clean of all drugs. My second labor I was so glad for the epidural, I asked the anesthesiologist to marry me, right in front of my old man. I couldnt keep anything down with my second one, and the doc would give me nothing. I threw up the whole nine months. I should have been brave enough to toke once in a while, but I knew the hospitals were mandatory reporters.

My wife delievered 3 without comfort & she is a tiny woman,her choice not mine.

I agree with the use of epidurals as long as its a local epidural & not an epidural containing fentanyl or other narcotics.

I actually had some ignorant woman tell me I wasnt a real woman if I accepted pain relief. I love how folks get up on a little high horse about the littlest things.

I see your point PanHead but considering that women can murder their unborn babies in a surgical procedure called abortion i doubt mj could do more harm, at least i doubt it would harm a baby.
