Chapter 6 - Day 41
Flowering - Day 25

Decided on a major lighting change tonight. I was not happy with the 2 row LED approach. I'm going back to the drawing board and will have something new by next update. As of now, the Quantum Boards are off and the 1K MH is back on.

Tomorrow will be the last day for the males - I will be doing pollen collections and killing them. I'll be sure to get some pics of them before I kill 'em.

We'll start with a sexy close-up of some girl parts :)

Flowering - Day 27

Pollen was collected from the two males that made the cut and were killed right after. Some of the best females should be ready for a bit of selective pollination in just a few more days.

I finished my LED design and I'm really happy with it. I ended up putting the 1K MH back online which is somewhat overkill but this round is not an exercise in efficiency. Plus, despite being June, the extra heat generated is needed. Right before I photographed tonight's entry, I decided to swap out the 1K MH with a 1K HPS and I kind of like it! I think I'm going to roll with this setup for a while and see where it takes me.

(The HPS was on for these pictures - I'll be sure to turn it off from now on)

I collected pollen from 2 remaining males - they happened to both be Lemon Hashplant. Yesterday, I turned off all of the fans and shut the HPS off (to control the heat). I took a very small paint brush and selectively, and carefully, brushed pollen onto about half of the females. I chose 1 or 2 lower branches from each chosen female and left the tops alone. This 1st round of pollination will yield:
Lemon Hashplant x Lemon Hashplant
Lemon Hasplant x Sunshine Daydream
Lemon Hashplant x Guava Wookie

The females I chose were just the ones that looked the best. Most of the sunshine daydreams, for example, don't look all that good. They seem incredibly finicky with watering frequency and they don't seem to like the living soil I made. Many of them are droopy and just don't look very happy. There are 2 SSDD's that look decent. The Lemon Hashplant and Guava Wookie females, however, look fantastic and are very happy. I probably won't start showcasing specific plants for another 2 or 3 weeks but there appear to be some real gems.

I'm very happy with my new lighting orientation. It's a shit load of light and probably way overkill, but that's OK.

Quite a few lower fan leaves are dying off and red stems on the fan leaves are appearing. Not sure what to make of it yet but I'm not too worried. I lowered the QB's about 3 inches on 3 of the 4 LED towers. All in all, I'm pretty pleased. If I take these girls 70 days that would mean a total time of 86 days from the time the seed hit the paper towels until harvest. I'm pretty sure quite a few of these are going to develop into nice fat long donkey dick cola's which is always great!

I'm rotating the 1K HPS and 1K Eye Hortilux Blue MH every few days. As for the Quantum Boards, they are all 4000K's and I'm pretty happy with them...do not anticipate any changes.

Flowering - Day 38

Just some random pictures for this post. I'm really happy with how things are going. Considering I put the beans into a wet paper towel only 54 days ago, these girls are really doing fantastic. Even if I flower them for 65 days, that will only be 81 days total. A 70 day flower would be 86 total days. I'm definitely going to break my own record for total time.

I'm running an incredible amount of light over a roughly 20 sq/ft footprint. I have the 1K up top and (12) QB 288's running at 60 watts. They are all 4000K btw...I love my blues.
So 1720 watts total...lol

35 watts per sq/ft good.
50 watts per sq/ft perfect/max.

I disagree. We shall see!

Cruising right along. Most of the fan leaves from the bottom 1/3rd of plant are either dead or dying. I've never really experienced this before so fingers crossed. This whole living soil thing might be a tough nut to crack.

We're far enough along that I can say with 100% confidence, these girls are going to be amazing.
I'm predicting the harvest date to be August 2nd. This would be 70 days of 12/12 and 86 total days.
A 70 day flower means we have exactly 28 days left. 4 more weeks!

Chapter 7 - Day 1

3 seeds from each of the following strains were put into wet paper towels:
(All Bodhi genetics)

Hashplant #4 (Chem 4 x G13)
Hashplant D (Chem D x G13)
More Cowbell (Girl Scout Cookies x G13)
Forest Queen (Strawberry Milk x G13)
Cobra Lips (Chem 3 x Appalachia)
Super Silver Hashplant (Super Silver Haze x G13)

The initial strategy will be to have them in solo cups under 12/12 along with the girls from Chapter 6. The timing should work out such that Chapter 6 finishes right around the time these plants indicate sex. I will segregate the males, transplant the females and put the lights back on a veg cycle.

Going to try something a little different this time. The containers will be much larger...12"x12" square - 6 gallon. I'm going to run Perlite only with Blue Planet nutes.
Will probably go for a 40 day veg, give or take. So larger plants but not too large.
