12 hrs in an enclosed area.. 1 for every 4x4 area. Exhaust off ..fans on. You can use at night for a week. Put in a plastic ziplock to save em. The pesticide degrades rapidly. Used routinely in mushroom farms and grain storage. You fighting mites?

I've used hotshots and they crushed a mite problem...once, then had no effect on my hot shot immune re infestation 6 months or so later. They do work to kill pretty much every living bug in a grow. Definitely need an enclosed space for good effect, I put a little fan behind it to get some good airflow around, but i turned off the room exhaust while i had them in there. I used twice as many as recommended on the packaging. It takes some time for the stuff to build up in an area i think, so I just put em in for 2 weeks then take em out after. If you have like a bedroom closet grow or something, I wouldn't use these, I mean I worked for hours around them at a time and haven't grown extra nipples or anything, but the chemical in these is pretty nasty stuff. The great thing about them is that they are cheap, and so easy, just hang and forget, no spraying required. I would use these problem to get rid of anything BUT mites now, however they did crush my mites once before, so if I wanted to use it for mites, you have to use something else also. I guess since I had that issue before, I'll always use a combination of solutions whenever I fight plant problems.

Basically how it works is, say 99/100 mites are vulnerable to Hot Shots, you use them and you see no more mites. Except that 1 in 100 left over is still multiplying and eventually you have a room full of mites immune to hot shots.
