hot spot diffuser for hid bulbs?

anyone using a hot spot diffuser for hid bulbs. one brand is called the equalizer. i was wondering if they worked??

I'm wondering the same thing. Seems like it might be a good idea. I have a 1000w HPS in a 5x5 Jardin Darkroom and even with air cooling and a covered hood it gets pretty warm (80-83) right under the light (2'-3' away). Did you ever get one?
