Hydroponic systems will not compensate for poor growing conditions such as improper temperature, inadequate light, or pest problems. Hydroponically grown plants have the same general requirements for good growth as field-grown plants. The major difference is the method by which the plants are supported and the inorganic elements necessary for growth and development are supplied.

Temperature. Plants grow well only within a limited temperature range. Temperatures that are too high or too low will result in abnormal development and reduced production. Warm-season vegetables and most flowers grow best between 60° and 75° or 80° F. Cool-season vegetables such as lettuce and spinach should be grown between 50° and 70° F.

Light: Adequate light is perhaps one of the most important factors influencing plant growth and it is he quantity, quality and duration of light exposure is what matters. Various light sources can be used to provide light to the plants and the sources of light can be classified as natural and artificial sources. The natural source of light is the sun whereas the artificial sources include various types of lighting equipment. Blue light is essential for the growth of the leaves whereas a combination of red and blue light promotes flowering of plants. The artificial light sources can be manipulated to adjust the intensity of the light as well. While it is always good to rely on the natural source of light, during extreme weather conditions and lack of sunlight artificial light is the best option. Also there are certain plants, which require less light for the growth, in such cases the light can be filtered using protective shelters for the plants to allow minimum required amount of sunlight exposure.

Water. Providing the plants with an adequate amount of water is not difficult in the water culture system, but it can be a problem with the aggregate culture method. During the hot summer months a large tomato plant may use one-half gallon of water per day. If the aggregate is not kept sufficiently moist, the plant roots will dry out and some will die. Even after the proper moisture level has been restored, the plants will recover slowly and production will be reduced.

Water quality can be a problem in hydroponic systems. Water with excessive alkalinity or salt content can result in a nutrient imbalance and poor plant growth. Softened water may contain harmful amounts of sodium. Water that tests high in total salts should not be used. Salt levels greater than 0.5 millions or 320 parts per million are likely to cause an imbalance of nutrients. The amateur chemist may be able to overcome this problem by custom mixing the nutrient solutions to compensate for the salts in the water.

Carbon dioxide and Oxygen The manufacturing of sugar by plants requires the presence of carbon dioxide and hence it is one of the vital elements for plant growth. It is a known fact that plants can use as much as 1500 parts per million of carbon dioxide. In case the natural carbon dioxide available in the air is not enough, there exist Carbon dioxide injectors that promote enhanced plant growth. Oxygen is essential for plant respiration and utilization of photosynthesis byproducts.

Mineral Nutrients. Green plants must absorb certain minerals through their roots to survive. In the garden these minerals are supplied by the soil and by the addition of fertilizers such as manure, compost, and fertilizer salts. The essential elements needed in large quantities are nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and sulfur. Micronutrients - iron, manganese, boron, zinc, copper, molybdenum, and chlorine are also needed but in very small amounts.

Relative Humidity: Moisture is a very important factor in growth of plants and is defined as the ratio of water vapor in the air to the amount of water in the air. The relative humidity in the air is used by the plants and is crucial for the transpiration of the plants. Transpiration is at its peak cutting hot, windy and dry days while transpiration slows down during cool and humid days.

Soil: Soil with proper humidity, and the right balance of all the minerals and nutrients is one of the essential factors instrumental in plant growth. The type of soil and the quality and the nutrients required in it vary according to the plant species. The right pH balance, which measures the alkalinity or acidity of the soil and presence of certain chemicals, is also instrumental in the growth of plants.

Support. In a garden the plant roots are surrounded by soil that supports the growing plant. A hydroponically grown plant must be artificially supported, usually with string or stakes.

light is very important to plant because it provide plant energy to make food for itself. and plant need specifically spectrum such as red 660nm and 630nm, if you provide plant green 530nm, it's no use to plant at all.

Some other condition such as water, temperature, soil, CO2 etc. all of those are important for plant too. you can not only provide plant light and let plant lack for other condition. and said. this led grow light is no use at all.

I agree, over priced, I actually a few days ago read somewhere that NASA was studying the affect of LED growing becauce they seem to think that useing a certin combination of led lights, wattage, lumins would produce growth in plants that would surpass anyother light for use with growing, and so far it has only proved to be a complete failure, so if NASA can't get led's to work good then I say throw them bitches in the trash and get some MH or HPS,

Nothing could be further from the truth! Some led grow lights on the market are not good quality and have not enough intesity of light. Copycats don’t know the essentials of led grow light.
Use the bad quality products (have the similar appearance) to confuse the market
The right led grow lights really work. That’s the truth!
