How am I doing?

OMG.. Dude i didnt realize all the shit people have been feeding you... well some of it is legit... you just seem to get pointed in the wrong direction...

Ok so ill help you out... Ill start with what you did wrong eh?

1.. Container/Soil: You want to use a small container at first....say a party cup.

The reason is because you want to use the weaker soil. (which you did) but after a say 2 to 3 weeks you want to transplant into a decent soil mix.

Believe it or not I ONLY use MG soil..People say that it will burn your plants... but thats cause they add shit to it...you read there threads and you see them do that same thing you did... GIVE THEM NUTES.

2. Gave them Nutes. Small plants with barely any leafs on it shouldnt be given nutes... especially Big Bloom (big bloom is an add on to normal feeding schedule during FLOWERING)
Im not sure if you mention this or not. But how sure are you of the dosage?
DO you have a digital pen? Did you check the PPM lvl, PH?

I only add nutes at maybe 5th or 6th week of flowering...and it is a very very small dose... say 400ppm max. thats after adding the big bud and beastie bloom..i use advanced nutrients A&B nutrients if i need to give it food. (specific grow and bloom whenever needed.)

I see those two major issues. The light is a small issue and i veg with HPS as well... although it is later when they are transplanted the first time. Say week 4.

Think this way... Every 4 weeks you want to tranplant if you can.

Soil nutrients with regular watering usually provides all the nutrients the plants need for about 4 weeks. Hence why then you tranplant... But then you dont add nutes..

See in soil you really shouldnt have to add nutes. they allready contain the goodness.

Please read the following thread that i opened up for this specific information..

I also Highly Highly recommend visiting Mandalas web site and see there troubleshooting guides and soil guides that they have on there... they have taught me allot.

What i recommend:

1. Read Read Read.

2. Transplant the plants (using quality potting mix) and only give them PH'd water.

3. Depending if you have a glass on your reflector... Lower the light!
a good way to do it is have your hand move towards the light palm down ..whenever you start feeling like the heat bothers you (a little itch & heat) then you know how close your tops can be. I hang a little string with a paperclip on the end to mark this distance ...this way its a very easy visual on when you need to raise your light

4. Light Part B. I would highly recommend either 1 adding some cfls to the HPS like i have on my thread... Or 2. veg using only cfls or t5.

Youll be happier with the growth that the white light provides to the plants on this stage.. hell i leave the attached cfls during flowering. I beleave in giving the plant the closest to the sun spectrum i can. So why miss out on a color entirely?

5. Be Patient. I know that other peoples pics and shit can make you think your doing something wrong and before you know it your doing stupid shit like flushing or adding nutes to your soil grow. Oh yeah NEVER FLUSH. Period i dont give a fuck what people say this isnt hydro.... But then again dont fertilize either..lol..

6. Learn to water and when to water.

Your plant medium (soil) should never be DRY. when your roots are in a completely dry environment the little hair tips shrivle and die.. these hairs only come back with new ROOT growth.

Keep your medium moist in the center and bottom, Meaning you can and should let the top portion of your soil (say 1 inch deep) go dry before watering again.

An easy way to get to know your medium wetness is the weight thing...

Pick up your plants when they are dry... you should see that they are really light... then water... pick them up again.. then you notice they are way heavier... When its light you water... Ya dig?

Anyway man my back is hurting from typing so imma go roll one up... good luck man.

Thanks, I've read over both those links.
I'm getting different info about the big bloom. People say that it is a supplement and that the name is deceiving, because it's used throughout the life not only for bloom.
And yes, I have the same pen as you do. Ph for the tap water is 7.05 and ppm is somewhere around 180 if I'm not mistaken.

you can use lemon juice drops to bring the ph down to the 6.1 area.... ppm at 180 is fine... I use ro water at 9 but 180 shouldnt be bad.. Trust me man get some good soil like mg or that ocean forest and only give them water for 4 weeks.. after that your gonna flower

So another tranplant and then you can add nutes 4 to 5 weeks after that if the plant needs it... the plant will ask for it... youll see.

This weekend I'm probably going to transplant into 3 Gal pots. Unfortunately, Fox Farm soil is unavailable in my area, so I guess I'm going to have to settle for the next best thing.

can you tell me what is wrong with miracle grow?

Are the NPK's off? i have a thread/guide too... I dont use 8 lights... i use a 400 hps with some cfls and i get nice buds without giving it a shit load of nutes... i must say that your room looks nice... But saying that a multi million dollar company doesnt know what they are doing is pretty stupid in my book. Like i said what do you say is wrong with miracle grow...and why am i successfull...

Alright, I checked your journal genfranco, decent looking harvest, for CFLs...

I also noticed it's your 2nd grow over the summer, and I'm guessing your third is the one you just harvested... The ones in the pics you posted today with the bic lighter for a comparison of size... I use something different.

I've been doing this at a much larger scale than most for 10 years, I think I know what I'm doing...

If you want to see more pics, there's a link to my albums in my sig.

I dont know man... I must agree that the fox farm line sure tells you too...

Its kinda funny how that company wants you to use the ocean forest soil..and plus add all this shit...seems to me like whatever is in that big bloom shit mustn be too strong.

Damn so fox farm wants the soil and the 3 bottles of shit ... vs soil and water.

so because you drown your shit in food and then have to flush your crap... therefore needing to add all that rock perlite shit to it so it doesnt get all mud/mushy in order to let the roots breath.... so because you do all that ...and all i do is give water... and you say im the dumbass?... I wonder! Well ill be the dumb ass over here with bomb buds and all it cost me was 16 dollars worth of soil...

Like i said man... I dont nock your room or anything... and im sure that in 10 years you have forgotten more than i know.. but just thinking about it rationally ...well like you said ..what do i know... I was just going off of mandalas website and they totally convinced me that less was better... What do they know though right.

Pics don't lie man, check my buds vs yours... :leaf:
thats a dumb ass statement... If we were both using the same equipment and all that and the only variable was the soil and nutes...then it would be valid... you got how many lights? keep constant temps? strain? blah blah... dont be a dumbass :joint::evil:

I'm using a 600W... Not that big a difference...

If you notice, that's one cola... I saw a bic lighter was about the same size of yours... I see a twenty dollar bill is dwarfed by mine...

I think maybe you should learn before you teach ;)

Always happy to help.
