How are these t5s?

I was wondering if these are decent lights to try my first grow and I was curiouse what extras I should add on at the bottom of the page. I will be starting 4 seeds max and vegging under this. Then if anyone has a 600hps suggestion off that website that would be awesome. I'm just hoping I can keep the light cool enough. (The 600hos)It will be in a pretty big room that has a AC window unit . I was thinkin I could maybe just grow in a corner and use the 2 walls to reflect light? And maybe a couple household fans in the area to move air? Suggestions?

i have some HTG t5 lights and they work great for veg. 4 seeds will eventually out grow that light but its great for starting them and keeping the node spacing tight.

-I suggest a quality dim able ballast that Does mh and hps
-I personally suggest hydrofarm phantom ballast or soils tek
- to keep the light cool enough, you need a air cooled hood or a cooltube, and a inline fan and carbon filter for smell
-I suggest getting a 3x3 or a 4x4 tent and keeping everything contained. Build shelves for nutes and supplies so its not laying around
-use oscillating fans that rotate air.
-depending on how big the room is, I suggest a 10k btu ac.

Thanks bro, do you have a good site for ballasts and hoods(aren't reflectors and hoods the same thing?)? It doesn't seem like htg has that many options. Also any name brand tent suggestions I'm not much on buying junk.

All my stuff I get is off ebay. How big of a tent you want? I suggest either secret jardin or gorilla tent. Gorilla is super expensive. Hydrofarm phantom ballast I hear nothing but good reviews about it, and its less then soils tek.. But both are good. So it's your choice there. I just ordered me a hydrofarm phantom, I get it on Monday so I can tell you more about it. Right now I use a cheap htg supply magnetic one that's hard wired into my ballast which is pain in the ass if you need to move it. As far as reflectors and hoods they are the same in my opinion so don't get confused with the wording its just how I type lol and If you want to fork out a decent chunk, I say blockbuster 6 reflector. Again, I hear nothing but great reviews about it. I can't really say tho because I'm using a cheap ass cooltube... I will upgrade sometime. A lot of people suggest hortilux bulbs, and I hear great reviews about them but I use cheap bulbs because I can't afford the expensive ones ATM. Any other questions let me know.

I think I will go with a 4x4. I don't really have a ton of money either. I plan on buying the stuff for veg and setting up the rest while there soakin up the t5 light. Also plan on running the canna terra line. And I assume I will need 3 inline fans now if I go with a tent. The out take line,intake and the one that will push straight through my hood correct? I've always been a outdoor guy and haven't really done all that much of that either. Just trying to wrap my mind around all this.

-I got a cheap tent because I couldn't afford a jardin but some people say cheap ones put off a smell? Not sure i never used a tent just a closet lol so well see. -you only need 1 inline fan and 1 carbon filter. I sit my fan on top of the filter and blow through my cooltube up in the roof. It's gonna be hard do sit it on top in a tent, so ill prolly use ducting to attach them.
-intake would be passive, which means the air the inline fan is sucking out and putting in the roof, will draw air in through the vents at least that's my idea lol.

-as far as bulbs go its up to you.. Cheap or expensive., I use cheap because sending 80 for a bulb is a little crazy I think but people get excellent results with them and they are quality bulbs..
-I also strongly recommend caliber 3 hydrometers for your jars when you cure. Helps out a lot.

In that pic, you would put the carbon filter in the top of the tent, run ducting from the filter to the fan so the fan will be sucking air through the filter and blowing it it through the other side. Attach ducting from the other side of the fan, to the left side of the cooltube, it will flow through the cooltube, attach ducting to the right side of the cooltube, it will blow from cooltube to ducting and then you put your ducting in the roof. With the filter at the top of the tent, it will suck the heat out first, and blow through the ducting throu the cooltube cooling your light off too and all the heat would go in the roof through the drywall or whatever your roof is made out of


I never had a tent, I just threw my stuff in a closet and did it. But a tent will keep all light contained and should yield better then out in the open so I'm not exactly sure how to set the tent up. I get my ballast on Monday tent on WednesdayWednesday

If you use that 600w phantom you would use a 600w mh bulb and a 600w hps one. When you switch the bulbs, I'm pretty sure Thera a knob or switch to change it from hps or mh on the ballast. You will get better results with 600wmh then that t5 you posted. If you decide later you want perpetual grows then I would go ahead but I would rather screw the t5 now and get a quality ballast then get the t5 and get a ipower set from ebay and it burn out on u in 2 weeks into flower

Ok cool I u under stand now. I might not use a filter for a while since smell really won't be a issue were I am. From what I've gathered though if you do use another fan to intake air into the room you want to use the same cfm as your outtake fan.

I heard intake should be twice as big as out take, so you would have to verify that. Like I say I would use passive intake because with the air getting sucked out of the tent, air will be forced inside.

I would still do something for smell because people might try to rob u... Not sure what area u live in but... And plants smell during veg, not bad but I smell mine when I'm vegging and my filter isn't attached.

Yeah I know what you mean.... So complete assembly would be cool tube(does this hood have glass in it?),bulb and ballast. And the tent should come with what ever you lower and lift the lights with ?

Cooltube does have glass the tent doesn't come with rope ratchets so you need them too I paid 10 bucks for mine
