How Big...?

I'm planning my outdoor grow for this upcoming season, I'm working with 6 different mother plants (mostly sativas) and will be taking clones from each in the upcoming days to prepare them for outside. I'm looking for a heavy yield outdoors, so my question is how big can I grow a plant in a 5 gallon bucket? I'm considering this as an alternative to planting them straight in the ground for ease of transportation (if need be).

thanks man much appreciated.

anyone else got any more ideas? the advantages vs. disadvantages of each? size, upkeep, pests (human and animal alike), etc.

i do the 5 gal bucket every year and drill 1" holes close to the battom and plant about 2/3 of the bucket in the ground. i use the bucket now because some punk as moles...(real ones)..... killed 3 of my ladies bout 3 yrs ago!! LITTLE FUCKERS!!-cant grow their own!! LOL

Advantage to containers? You can move them to a new location if you have to.
Pests = no difference if you grow outside. Pests will find your plant. No way around it.
Upkeep = containers need to be watered more frequently. Slightly increased chance of mold or fungus. Small containers can stunt growth and stress the plant. In ground... danger of a gopher maybe? I dunno, haven't had any issues yet.

If you have the option, grow in the ground. You need less nutrients, less water, and it grows bigger (and healthier).

lol, moles, yeah.. moles & gophers I can see being an issue. I actually grow in a raised garden bed. I put a weed barrier before I poured in my soil, so that could be why I never had an issue. I do have a lot of gophers (might be moles, not sure) and mice around the yard. They haven't killed anything yet, but I can see how they could be a problem. Bucket in the ground sounds pretty smart. like a hybrid system huh. lol.

You also dig down a few extra inches and place some wire mesh. But a bucket works too I guess.

yea, aint that sum shit! when i was bout 15-16ish i use to keep my weed stashed inbetween the cushion on my seat and a mouse jewd me out of an eighth!!

anyone have an idea as to how much bigger plants are able to grow in the ground as opposed to a 5 gallon bucket? is the difference in yield considerable?
