Hey RIU. I bought some nice fans kickin out 100 cfms each, im going to use them for my DIY carbon filter. (own design)

So i may need to slow these fans down at times.

How can i do so? Dimmer switch? Less volts?

These fans are 120mm, 120v, metal frame 7 plastic fins and last 50 000 hours or so

Thanks RIU

Mr I Can Do That For Half
If you make a true carbon filter and use these they will burn up in a short time frame. Your better off going to home depot and buying a duct work fan for $28 for the little 150cfm or the 350cfm one for $40. You can buy a speed control for these but these are not gonna last. They are computer fans so they can ahndle the speed control but the draw using as filter fans will eat these tiny motors up from the resistance especially when on a lowered speed control. These are good in small spaces to draw air in or out or to move air.

Thanks for the reply FilthyFletch.

I hear what your saying about burning the fans up. After i start constructing my carbon filter, i'll post pics of my design. Then we will go from there. i bet im better off not slowing these fans down. i feel these fans can handle some resistance. I've seen these fans drilled to walls and still making a airflow. there suppose to last a long time too, i may shorten the life but i bet i can get a couple seasons outta them. I'm always looking for better ways to improve my g boxes.
