My 2 week old seedlings are growing really slow! when should i start giving them nutes? i gave 1 of them some foxfarms grow big just to see what itd do and its huge now, well way bigger than the other ones.

You usually want to hold off on nuts for 3 or so weeks because seedlings are pretty sensitive towards the nut burn etc. There are so many variables in a grow that just saying "my seedlings wont grow" won't be able to get you any definitive answers. Give us better idea what your grow is like. Indoor? Outdoor? Soiless mix? CFLs? MH? HPS? Etc....

some good advice here. my plant is just about 3 weeks old and im not giving them nutes yet.

They might just be putting most of their energy into building a root system. I usually have a week or two of slow growth right about then until they explode with life. I have some. But I also would not give them nutes until they are established in veg.

Do you know what your PH numbers are? Both what you are giving them and what the run off is??

I've got some seedlings going and have been giving them ±300ppm with PH @ 6.4 from the git go.

No idea what the ph is because i dont have a tester. I just bought some potting soil, planted the seeds in that, and took 1 week to sprout!!!!!! it seems to have no soil in the mix just realyl groud up bark but the mix is black so im not sure and it said its organic with no fertilisers they are now 3 weeks old and about 3" tall with there 3rd set of leaves why are they growing so slow? im growing outdoors they get full sunlight etc

Are you growing outdoors, like right now? Ummm, are you in the southern hemisphere?

If you are growing outdoors....short answer would be for me to say, take the risk of shock and transplant them indoors.

If you are in the southern hemisphere, then you are planting a bit too soon, wait until you are like 60-65 days before the solstice, whatever that day works out to be. Nice clones/seedlings put into the ground 2 months before solstice would be the way I'd do it.

At this point in time, you could be giving them a small taste of the nutes... 200~250ppm of some nice 6.4.4.

Of course, without knowing what your ph is, you are literally flying in the dark. If your ph is above 7, there is very little chance the seedling will be able to uptake anything (it is what we call nute lockout)... PH pens are cheap, get one and some calibration solution.

Use plain white vinegar for ph down and baking soda for ph up

A nice ph pen - one with 2 digits after the decimal point - cost like US$25

Don't forget to get a supply of calibration solution when you get the pen :)

Did you do anything to the soil before you planted the beans, or just dug a hole and stuck them in?

bongsmilieOkay, here is an idea for you.

#1. Get a 3 or 4 foot section of black plastic sewer pipe. This will be 12" or greater in diameter.
#2. Dig a hole in the ground 3 or 4 feet deep.
#3. Place the pipe into the hole but keep 5 or 6 inches above the ground level.
#4. Fill the pipe with outrageous quality soil
#5. Transplant your seedling into the pipe.

The black plastic will absorb the heat and keep the roots and such nice and warm.
Vermin will be blocked
You'll have better control of the soil and the moisture.
It's great for early in the year or outdoor planting where the ground is not properly heated.

I bought some potting mix filled 4 3" id pots with it put the seeds in them than waited for them to sprout and there growing super slow i finally found foxfarms so im gonna transplant into that :)

My nice ph pen cost a little over $100, you can use test strips they are only like $5. How often are you watering these seedlings.
