just came across these cfls which are way stronger than the current ones im using. i have the 42W ones right now and this thing is 150 watts which would be awesome, but the length of this bulb is like 13 inches the ones i have now are like 5 inches and can barely fit :( any ideas? :wall:

wtf do you call those things that you screw the cfl into and it has two plugs on the side to plug into a power strip?? cant seem to find them if i could find one like an elbow i guess id be straight.. if they even make them??? instead of it being straight nahmean??

Even if you can get that light into your PC grow room, how would you remove the heat? I imagine a 150W CFL in a tiny space like a computer case will turn the thing into an easy bake oven...

lmao! well right now i run 4 42W cfls with no trouble at all , my box has an exhaust fan and an intake so there is air circulating.. i think it would be fine.. im gonna have to hunt for one of those adapter thingys with a 90 degree angle cus my box is alot wider than it is depthwise.. it just wouldnt happen with the adapters i got for my other cfls cus they are straight, and my box is like 5 or 6 inches deep in depth and this bulb is 13 inches lol

Dude I had same bulb in my PC grow. Fitted with a lot of persuasion. There just no good for PC grows. number 1 took up too much height and space in general and number 2 it got ridiculously hot with 2 120mm intakes and vents each side of comp with 2x 80mm exhaust. Had to move it to a cupboard grow but I can say personally I think there good. My Easy Ryders are doing fine under it.

What is the point in growing a plant in a freaking PC case? Ok yea, it looks like a PC case and oh my, look, a TINY ASS PLANT that is good for half a hit after its been cured.

If you are so worried about detection, then you should reconsider your living arrangements.

half a hit? nah... wtf you talkin bout?? why bother commenting if your gonna be a punk ass :wall: im fine with my curret living situation and perfectly fine with getting an ounce every 2 months.. the fuck is your problem? i dont see any of your grow journals with any of your bud and you come in here like your the man, go watch some more chuck norris flicks you friggin weirdo

the light bulb things dont have a name... they are in the electrical wiring sections in lowes/home depot. ask someone for a light bulb Y-splitter and they will take you to that isle. its the same isle with the extension cords, light socket, light switches, wires etc...

I think you should do some research on PC grows before you start knocking them.. V12's is awsome! ( I only use mine for seedlings, Early Veg and clones but they CAN do the job!)

hell ya thanks man, looks like yours is set up is a bit different than mine, but ya thats what i want, my powerstrip is actually inside the box on the top back wall. looks like you have it coming from the side where my fans would be? does look like it takes up a shitload of space though not sure if im actually gonna do this but i guess its worth a shot

Just a little FYI here. But CFL's start to loose their lumen per watt after about the 30W cfl's. So if it's possible for you, I'd go with an abundance of smaller CFL's, (mathamatically the 26W bulbs are the most efficient lumen/watt wise) rather than 1 HUGE CFL that doesn't put out as many lumens as if you we're to use the same amount of watts just with smaller light's. Does what I'm saying make sense?

Here, this may be better.
I looked at the 150W CFL's, and the one that puts out the MOST lumest/watt is the "150 Watt CFL Light Bulb - 650 W Equal - Full Spectrum 5000K - 8U Lamp - Energy Miser 35863 - 9,200 lumens"
So the best lumen/watt for a large, 150W CFL that I found was 9,200lumens/150watts which calculates to about 61.333 lumens per individual watt.

Now I looked at the kind of light's I use which are the "26 Watt CFL Light Bulb - 105 W Equal - Cool White 4100K - T2 Spring Lamp - Energy Miser FE-IISB-26W-41K - 1800 lumens"
So the best lumen/watt for the smaller, 26W CFL that I found was 1800lumens/26watts which calculates to about 69.231 lumens per individual watt.

Ok so let me break this down for you, straight G style! hahaha..
A single, 150W CFL, puts out 9200 lumens total. 61.333 lumens per watt
now let's see 150W/26W=5.796. So it would take about 5.796 of these 26w cfl's to have the same amount of watts being used as the 150w. So let's round that down (just to show you) 5 of the 26watt CFL's, that would be a total of 130watts, and you would be putting out 9000 lumens. So for 20 less watts, you would have only 200 less lumens. (Don't forget I rounded down to 5 instead of 5.796) just to make my point.
If you were to round up instead of down, from 5.796 to 6 which is what logic would tell us to do. That would give you 156watts (Only 6 watts more than the 150w CFL) and 10800 lumens (which is 1600 MORE lumens that the 150W CFL)

So 1600 MORE lumens for only 6 more watts.

Again, just sharing some info. This is what I do instead of using the HUGE CFL's. It's also a LOT cheaper to replace these smaller bulbs for whenever the time comes. Because it's said that CFL's start to lose intensity after about 2 grows.

:eyesmoke:Don't FUCK with me and my CFL's! lol;-)
Hope this helps with your decision dog. And if not, at least I was able to spread the knowledge. PEACE

lol, Hey no problem bro! I'm glad to help! I did all this research and everything before I started growing. And just thought that it may help somebody else out. You know? Save a little money, not have to order online, therefore not have to wait for shipping, and start your grow a little sooner. And most importantly, have a MORE efficient grow room! THAT'S what it's all about!

EDIT: Oh, and keep us updated on how everything goes. And maybe a couple pix if you could do it, or if you have a camera. It's always fun seein pix.

Well, i guess you didnt do any searching because i had an outdoor grow journal last year for my 2.5 lbs and right now the journal i am keeing is 6 weeks away from harvesting my lastest indoor grow. WIth pics included.

So you accusing me of not doing research is pretty hypocritical considering, uhh, you didnt do any. My plants are about the size of a PC case. With main colas that are almost as big as that giant CFL that you are imagining is your penis.

Since you are being such a little crotch waffle, i would suggest that the CFL would fit best in your ass.

#1: Crotch Waffle: I have never heard that before..... But I like it! hahahahaha

#2: Easy Sister! lol, yes, he should have done research on YOU before assuming anything.

Now can't we all just get along and stop hating on eachother! Were all here to do the same thing, and that is grow this magnificent plant! And there are thousands apon thousands of different ways people are growing. And yes, some are alot better than others. That doesn't mean we needta disrespect tho! Just try to lend a helping hand and tell them to take it or leave it. Then be DONE WITH IT! If he wants to grow a plant for just a "half hit" of smoke, then so be it! Props to him, because I would DEFINITELY not put forth all the effort needed to just get a couple bowls. That's not to say that I haven't seen some pretty bitchin PC grows tho!

Check out this PC grow. Now it's not a whole lot of smoke. But hey, it's FREE smoke! And you CAN'T go wrong with that!..

I can't believe people come on a forum to knock people... Like Hookd said, we're all here for the same reason!!!

Like I said in my previous post, I only use my PC case for clones and early veg (I find them to be a great starter)... BUT my hat is off to anyone who can pull off the whole cycle in a PC case, I sure as hell couldn't do it!

You have to have a greenthumb to pull it off... So, Autoflowa dude, Fair play to ya!

Any Tom, Dick or Harry can grow weed outdoors... it takes some skill to grow in a PC case IMO!!! :D
