How do I adjust nutrient strength?

Im feeding Mills Nutrients right now. In veg still. Have been feeding mostly the light feeding, just a little different. It calls for 8-10ml per gallon of A and B. 4ml per gallon of Start R (5-0-.5). And for both flowering additives cals for 4ml per gallon also. I have been feeding 8ml A and B. 3ml Start R. 1-2ml CalMag. A couple other things also but my question is when i want to raise or lower the strength of the nutrients im feeding should i just adjust the amount of the A and B and leave the start r at the same rate? I am only feeding 3ml a gallon start r because i am getting some extra nitrogen with the calmag im adding. If you have any tips let me know. Thanks alot for the help!

Usually if you receive multi-part nutes the manufacturer has designed it so you use all of them in a set suggested combination. You say "light feeding" and give your ratios. Is this a light feeding per the manufacturer? As far as nutrients - marijuana survived and thrived for years without our help. It is easier to play catchup with fertilizers than to try to adjust a single load that was too hot. Where I'm going with this is - if your plants are looking good and thriving, don't push it with fertilizers. Read the plants and not the bottle labels.

So mills has a light, medium, and heavy feeding schedule. The only difference is that the light is 8-10 ml of a and b. Medium is like 10-12. Heavy 12-16. Or along those lines. No matter what "schedule" you use they recommend 4ml of the veg or flower additive being used. I never use nutes at full suggested rates. So i just want to make sure im doing the right thing by using 3ml of the "start r" which is the nitrogen [veg] additive. They recommend 4ml but im only using 3ml per gal. If i want to feed a lower or high feeding i only adjust the a and b ml's....this sound right? Im mainly just wanting to be sure im using the "start r" correctly at an appropriate amount. Ad soon as i turn to flower the start r is taken out and there is an additive for early flower at recommended 4ml a gal and late flower 4ml a gal.

I quoted this so you would read it once more.

Fuck the multi part systems. Cause more problems than anything
The reason most are in different bottles and directed to be mixed is instability of the individual salts. Likely some would precipitate if in a single solution. However, then you are feeding it all whether the soil needs it or whether the plant can even utilize it. Hydro is a different matter altogether.

When a new grower is inexperienced so as to ask this I am always going to suggest giving it the lightest feeding of whatever you are using. If the plants begin to show a deficiency (and fuck those picture charts) determine what it is and rectify it. By this I mean at what stage in the grow are you? I see guys with plants 2 weeks old asking "Should I add Cal/Mag now?" without asking themselves at wgat stage does cannabis even begin to really utilize magnesium or deplete the calcium in a soil? It can happen depending on your medium, is it a clone, how old is the mother etc.See where this is going I hope?

Just stick to what the maker says and DO NOT go over medium!
Don't stop the N additive till week 3 of bloom and don't start the P&K booster till like week 5 or 6....Mill's, Mill's - I need to look that one up - haven't used it ,,,,,, Hang on a sec.

Base combines to 3-4-4 Not to bad.....

Start R is 5-0-0.5 HEY LOOK! They say to use this into early bloom! That's a plus. Use till week 3 of bloom!

C4 is 0.5-7-5 WHEEEE, lets jack the P too high - well, they do say to use at week 2 of bloom - Nope - still too early! I MIGHT use this at half strength and not until week 3!!!!

Ultimate PK ..... Shit, they don't even tell you the NPK ratio - I guess NO "N" and stupid amounts of P&K.....Easy to guess as they say don't use till the last 2-4 weeks of bloom! Wonder why the hell the bottle is so big in the pic at the site?

OK, I read the feeding chart......Wow, sure would like to actually "see" what they are burning up with that stuff at "Heavy Feeding".....Yucchhh!

Once your plants are at say 12"....(You don't say how big you want to be at finish) move to the low end of "medium" and increase by 1ml a week til your at the 8ml and run till the 3rd week of bloom this way.
At week 3 of bloom. Drop the start R and start the C4 at the LIGHT feeding program until week 6 and flip right to the Medium amount for that week and run it out that way.......NO CHEATING by adding more because you think it will be "better"!

Trust me,,,,,try it this way for a run and see what it's doing.....Run good? Then play with it a bit to see how far you go....
Turn yellow at the bottom and work it's way up early? Lower the P&K by using less and adding it later...

Dilute with more water to reduce strength.
Thats what i use to do but im confused with the mills because they recommend 4ml a gallon of the veg additive all of veg and just have you add more a and b as the weeks go on.

Thanks for the help doc. So you think 8ml of a and b is most i should use? Thats what i have been using pretty much give or take a little here and there. It puts my EC at right about 1.5 after i add the start r and a tiny bit of cal mag. And also should i stick with 4ml of start r per gallon as they recommend? I was doing about 3ml

If it ain't broke don't fix it ........like mentioned above correcting a over feet situation is much harder than just adding a little more. If she looks good and is growing good more nutes doesn't mean it's guna do even better ..........quite the opposite in most situations ........just stay where your at No need to add more nutes to a already healthy plant makes no sense IMO

i always end up with some cal deficiencies in late veg. Trying to get it dialed so that doesnt happen and i can go into flower at 100%...im in coco also just fyi so i know its almost expected

Just treat every grow/plant as individuals .........is the best advice I can give you........and if your getting the same def everytime supplement your soil at the beginning of your grow next time to compensate............my ffof soil has been doing the same thing lately so I understand your concern it's frustrating to have that happend .....good luck

I still say simply follow the formula I gave you for a run or two and see how that goes......Adjust from there after having a successful run...Keep the start R at what your giving it now and up that at the flip for those 2 weeks that I say to keep using it before the C4

Hey brotha im at the end of week 2 of flower. I should have asked you yhis before but when you said to use the start r until week 3 do you mean use it for 21 days or use it for 14 days? I believe you are saying 14 days but just want to make sure

Hey everyone, thought id see if i can get any help on this topic again. New to using mills after swapping over from bio diesel. Ive found there to be two different nute calculators put out by mills which is proving to be a massive pain in the ass to figure out what one is the right one.

The biggest difference in them is the amount of c4 its telling me to use. The first one i have it on a sheet at home that came from the store and when you mix up what it says it never adds up to the e.c it claims it should be at either. And by looking at the second one when i use those measurements on the medium feed cycle it gives me the right e.c that they have printed on the sheet that came with the nutes. Anyways to make it simple should i follow the first on or second one with the dosing of the c4 additive. thanks
