How Do I Dehumidify Without A Dehumidifier?

Whats up smokers, I got a dehumidifier, but the motherboard is fried and i have to wait 2 weeks for sears to order the part and come out and repair it. So my question is, what are some ways of keeping the humidity down until my dehumidifier is up and running?

my ventilation is good, i have both an intake and exhaust, but my problem is im growing in a metal shed (yes its insulated) but without my dehumidifier its getting up into the 70%. any input would help

i also heard baking soda would help is this true has anyone tried it?

i have an air conditioner but it will screw up my temp in there. I never heard of damp rid, but im definitely going to go buy some right now! thanks for the help...

lol, this question is only from like 45 minutes ago. I use it in my pool room (garage) and it works fine. I would be afraid that it might suck a small grow room dry.

i just bought it, idk if it worked yet..i got the 64 oz container my room is 10 by 20. Im just gonna monitor it and see how it does. my humidity in there right now was 76%:(. im hoping this can bring it down to 45-50..-crosses fingers- Once again thanks for the help BUDdy i really appreciate it! +rep

The only concern I have is the speed at which it removes moisture. I'm not intaking and exhausting air through my pool room, lol. Sitting in a room without so much air movement it works, I'm curious to see if this helps for grow rooms, so please report back.

most def. will report back on it. I had that concern as well, if thats the case, i plan to turn off my fan(s) until it goes down than turn them back on..i'll update in a couple hours..

humidity went down to 70% , its night now and this is when humidity goes up. So ill see in the morning how its looking.

yes it worked wonders, my humidity is now at a steady 50% 24 hours a day. It feels good to go into my grow room and not see condensation on the ceiling of the shed.:) thanks so much bro!

i have no clue how long it'll last, i guess that all depends on the humidity level. Damp rid is cheaper than kitty litter im guessing, Only 10 bucks for a 4 pound tub @ home depot. Also, with the damp rid you dont have to worry about your garden smelling like kitty litter, baking soda or anything; just garden:)

I have had the same damp rid bucket in the garage/pool room since July. It's not done doing it's job yet. For $10.00 it works pretty damn good. I would hate for my garage to smell like kitty litter...lol

It's good you found a way to clear that up. But one thing I didn't see was are you in veg or flower? Veg can take the higher humidity just bump the temp up a little. 5 degrees hold alot of mosture. And I think you can dry that stuff out on a cookie sheet. Set your over at low and place cookie sheet in for about 30-60 min. Let cool and place back in bucket and save till needed. Just watch it all you want to do is remove the mosture so any color change pull it out it's cooking.

Kitty Litter is about $13 for 35 pounds. Never really noticed it having an odor (without kitty piss). Then again, after breaking my nose 7 times, I don't smell much. I'll grab some damp rid on my next trip to town. Thank you.

I did put a bucket of kitty litter in the room. I'll post tomorrow how it worked.



Kitty litter did not work.
