How do I get my ScrOG to be less bushy?

Please can anyone point to to a tutorial, or write one up that can detail it better than.. fill it 75% then switch to 12/12?

Cause this most certainly has not worked for me... I have a canopy thats a foot thick and i mean THICK even after trimming... maybe I'm afraid of trimming too much, but I'd love some input..

Here is a picture of DoopSther's G13 Haze Grow..

And A look at Mine... (There is a vortex in the front right.. the other 2 are G13 Haze)

You can't be afraid to trim. I would suggest trimming earlier than later as well. If you nip a growth point at an inch the plant hasn't wasted much energy on it, nip it at 4" and it's wasted considerably more.

Be selective as to what branches bud out - you want the best of the best and cut the rest. When you over crowd you do end up with more bud sites but each gets less light so each is smaller and often less dense. Overcrowding can lead to mildew and mold issues as well.

Yours doesn't look all that bad though. Keep it up.

How far away is your screen from the top of the pot? Also if you don't take care of that I think that would defeat the purpose of scrog the light won't be able to penetrate to the buds you should of flowered earlier.

Yeah My screen is pretty high... Both of my grows I let my plants veg too long before switching to the screen... But DoopSthers looks pretty high too

My first couple grows were Scrog. I was chopping grocery bags full of leaves. All Scroggers do.
Trim those bitches!
Even if the screen is high, which doesn't make a lot of difference other than veg time, cut off everything under the screen. EVERYTHING under the screen.
They do look a little overvegged, but after a vicious trim they should be good. Continue to trim or tuck under the screen any large leaves that block budsites till about week seven of flowering.
Don't be timid! Hack that bitch!

Yes it is BF G13/Haze... I'm impressed by it too! My vortex smells much sweeter though.. (half harvested now).. On my new scrog I'll def start shorter and trim better.. I was afraid to trim anything that had already reached the top, seemed to be a waste of growth time, but now I think I see better..

Thanks to all!

Also does anyone make budder/Honey oil from the trim of leaves before week 4-5 of flower? It seems to me all the trim I got (TONS) before the trichomes started producing wouldnt make much if any good product..

Nope, I wouldn't bother, that stuff's compost. IF you got anything out of it, it more'n likely wouldn't be worth the time and effort.

And yes, prune away next time! Don't be skeered, hack the fuck out of em! SCROG is all about limiting those options (branches/bud sites.)

how far into 12/12 would you cut back? I have another room that got out of hand as well (ill timed wedding out of town), and they are 6 days into 12/12 and getting WAY too bushy..

Is it too late? Hmm they are sleeping now or else I'd post a pic

lol on that first pic I got clones from Craigslist that were 16 -18-17 inches tall already.. then vegged for a couple more weeks (first time grower)

But on my new room I only vegged some small clones for 5-6 weeks (wanted more like 4 but life got kinda crazy for a minute) so they were pretty big..

On my next grow I want to clone 2 pre topped clones that stand about 8 inches tall where they split (or will split). Then set the screen right there from birth and fill it exactly as needed and flip to 12/12 when I'm about 1/2 fullish...

If my light it in the middle of the screen should I start the plant there or on the sides and work in?

Thanks so much for all the advice so far!!
