How do I handle 10 plants in a 4' x 4' space?

I bought a grow closet that is 4ft x 4ft x 6.5ft. At the grow store, we laid out 16--3 gallon pots on the floor...the owner said that I could safely grow 10.

So with 1.6 square feet per plant, I'm going to attempt to grow 10. I have 5 blue dream and 5 pineapple express coming--hoping to be able to manage 2 strains in there.

How tall should I let these 10 plants get before I flip them to 12/12? Did I over step my bounds by ordering too many plants for the space. I read some SOG information that says you can put like 1-4 plants per SF. Is this going to be too tight.

My clones will be ready in 10 days...I'm having trouble making sense of how to approach this tight grow. I hope 2 strains don't mess things up.

Also if it helps, I'm running a 600 W HPS with augmented red and blue light spectrum. I'm going to use it through the whole grow.

I'm growing in a 4'x4' space w/ 3 gallon pots and I could see fitting 10 plants in there but I think that the limit. You should get some really good results! It's gonna be like a SOG grow so you'll probably have to trim some of the lower branches to keep a good air flow. You're also gonna flip them early. I've never grown the strains you have but I know Blue Dream can stretch and with the hight you're working with I'd say switch em short anyways. Like 10"-12" tall.

@Beansly--thanks for the feedback. I just wanted a "sanity" check to make sure my plan was workable. I'm glad to see you are doing something similar. I appreciate the advice to flip them small...I will definitely follow that. The thing about growing is there are 1,000,000 different ways to do it. I'm sure I'll do things differently next time, but I have to work within the confines of my capability for now. I'm working on a simple clone/veg area where I can perhaps shorten the time between cycles. This grow is going to be from clone to bud with no short cuts from other grow chambers. I hope to improve this next time. Thanks again for your input, it was exactly what I was hoping for.

Yeah i veg about 6-8 up to 4-5 weeks in a much smaller tent. You should be fine. I would lollipop them though, so you dont grow large side colas that will grow into the other area.
Working on your plants your most likely going to have to take them out of the tent, kinda a pain a bit. Totally worth the work though.
Doing 2 stains or more at once has never phased me before. I have never done one stain at a time lol.... and I dont do anything different to them.
Post up some pics when they get going.

You could expand your tent and get max result from your plants (amazing what a few sticks of PVC and panda plastic can do :)
It will make your grow experience way easier.

:) you dont have to do it right away, you prolly can do the veg cycle with ease, that will buy you time to figure out your set up and save some dineros to do it...It will then be much easier to water, treat, rotate, and so on.

Lollipop is when you cut all of the lower branches off(i use them for clones mainly if they have 2 or more nodes).
So when you see is not branches on the bottom for the first 12-20inches.

At what point would I lollipop? Does it harm the plant? I just watched a few Youtube videos about it. It looks interesting.

this is 3 plants in a 4x4 in 3 gal bags. (with a little 1 gal stuck in)








2 month veg. Given these where all trained as it could get to produce bushes.
