how do I keep my electrical bill down

Hey all. I've been away from my computer for the last few days and just noticed all the responses. Wow! Thanks! I'm going to take all this and definitely massage it into my mix. The cfl thing my roommates are balking but I think you are right. I'm just gonna start changing them little by little until they are all done. Is it true they last longer than a incandescent? If so these sleepy buzzards I room with won't notice anything til 2020 hee hee.
My water heater..eh..no. I'm cold and cold showers make me pissy. I had the space heater on and my lights were on a 20/4 schedule so I've moved them to a 18/6 sched. and turned off the heater. Next week I'll go to a 15/9 so I'm looking for some reductions.

OK. Just a little update. I changed over to the CFL's and thought everything would be cool. I changed my lights to 12/12 so my bill I thought would be less. It wasn't. I put all the tv's and lights and everything on powerstrips and shut um down at nightand was really dilligent on the electricity. GD PG&E!!! ERRRRRRR! $573.00 for just the electricity. I'm moving to a warehouse so I can get a commercial rate on my electicity.
