i'm currently flowering about 2/3 weeks in and i want to trim the fan leaves off.. which ones are they.. im confused i know it is probably simple but I just want to make sure.

heres what i think they are... they are the leaves that come off with only one big leaf on the end of the stem?

let me know if im right or what they are and possibily pics to show so i dont get confused and hack up the plant

thanks

Correct, what i dont get is why you want to hack all your fan leaves off,you do realize that as long as they are healthy they are turning the sunlight into energy that the plant uses.

Mate , if you dont know what a fan leaf is then you shouldn't be trimming them!!

Seriously though , they convert lighti into good stuff to make them grow ......so why cut them off? if they are in the way of a budsite then just tuck them out of the way.

why are people so obsessed with pruning these energy hoarders? the more leaves you clip the less energy the plant gets.... granted, pruning is always needed at some point

here ya' go, again only if this leaf is cutting off light to a lower node should you cut it these leaves are one to a stem and they are huge compared to the rest they usually stick straight out from the stem

the intersection of a branch and the main stem. This is where the buds will be forming come flowering stage or (heaven forbid) where the little seed sacs will form look here see where the hairs are coming out from? these are called 'nodes' kind of like its armpit with the little hairs in it:mrgreen:

yes i agree with all ... fan leaf is like a solar panel ,, just soaks up energy ,, if u have a problem with them blocking light from lower nodes,, tie them down ,,, try LST or scrog

Exactly, they can be tied out of the way 99% of the time.
