get a large plastic container as ur reservoir, stick the water pump into the reservoir and the tude comin out into the pot. There should be a tube that goes from the pot back into the reservoir. Voila - a hydroponic system.

I think the grey thing is an air pump.

They look like DWC buckets to me as you have a drain for the bucket on the side I see.

You will need to do some reading on growing DWC. There's loads of good info on this site, so it's a good place to start! :)

sorry, I'm lieing, they are not DWC buckets as I see you have a ring dripper on the top. They are some kind of self contained hydro/dripper system.

Can you find them on the web from the manfucaterer. They're bound to have some data/instruction sheets for the system that you can download.

Good luck with it all :)

its dwc with a dripper at the top... the dripper helps with the plants earlier on by supplying water to the roots before they get down into the deep water culture...

i know some people who grow some nice plants in these things, though if i remember correctly they disengage the dripper after some time...

so it looks like I still need a hydroponics controller
a what? I don't know about that man. From what I can see, that looks like a self contained system to me.

If you have a water pump, and an air pump with air stone. Then all you will need is some lighting/ventilation, timers, water and nutrients....you should be good to go man. For hydro you will really need some meters to measure PH and EC/PPM of your water/feed. You will be blind without these.

Nice project for you man. I've always liked the look of these water farms myself. Grow on! :joint:

Ah, so that's what it is...I thought it was DWC at first, but then the dripper threw me. Looks like a v cool little system to me. I'd be well excited if someone gave me a couple of these to play with!

so im getting 8 clones in a couple days, should i throw two of them in these? do i put them in soil, and then put them in w/ the rocks or what? sorry this will be my first grow, but boy am i excited

well if the clones are rooted, then yeah, you just stick them down into the caly pellets... make sure you have a water pump hoocked up to the drippers...

one plant per bucket my friend...

between now and when you get the clones... i'd do nothing but research those buckets and the style of growing you will be doing, and getting the EC and PH meters you'll need... along with some hydro nutes (Lucas formula is one of the easiest feeding regimens to follow)

and you might want to find out if you're tap water is good enough to use...

oh, and ph + and - will most likely be needed...

good luck friend

How will the clones come? In soil or rockwool??

If soil....I don't know how you would transfer to this system, cos it's a hydro system. I'm sure someone could help you though.

If you get them in rockwool then you need to plant them into net pots in your system with your clay pebbles. The roots will then grow down through the net pot and clay pebbles and will eventually live in your nicely aerated nutrient solution at the bottom. At least I think that's how it works from what I have read, but I'm no expert....I actually grow in soil! Just trying to help out a bit.
