...there's a machine that does it all? I want that animal! LOL....j/k Most people use rockwool cubes or rapid rooters to start their seeds going hydro.

I believe hydrosystems are the best way to grow. More air is allowed to get down to the roots - allowing optimal growth. The systems are easy to build and maintain when you have everything running on timers. I like the fact of using no soil because you dont have to worry about the pH of the soil - only the water. my suggestion would be to research different systems and figure which is best for your growing area. I have a drip system and had it built in less than 30 mins. I have a big 27 gallon storage tote with 6 holes that are 6 inches in diameter and the used netting pots and hydroton as the media. Then placed a water pump at the bottom, making a hose and any adapters to deliver water to each of the plants. Place nutrients in the water and watch them grow! The hardest part was making the holes - I would go to your local hardware store for most of the items and not a hydroponic store b/c they can be overpriced. The good part about using hydroton is it can be reused as with soil you can't so it does safe you money in the long run. And don't forget about your lights.

For a rooting medium Hydro growers can use many things. Perlite, hydroton, Coco Coir, lava rocks, RockWool among others. I use a combination of 1" rockwool cubes that get transplanted into net baskets filled with hydroton.
