i am just getting into growing, i think i have the basics down now but i was told that you can take the bud off a plant and get 2 or 3 more harvests from it. how is this done, if atall. do you just crop a load off with the bud so its small enough to flower again?

I haven't hear of this.. doesn't mean it don't happen... but it seems there would be an easily found 100 page long thread extolling the virtues of this technique.

I reckon some 2nd & 3rd cutting bud would look & smell remarkably like Alfalfa, and nobody with a grade 10 or above would want it.

Are you thinking of re-vegging a harvest plant??? A slow process that amounts to keeping it on life support, and possibly slower than starting a new one from seed?? People do that often enough.

Another possibility, and I might be trying this.... Harvesting the older mature buds, then leaving the newer less mature buds on for a while till the trichs are ready. Of course, I might harvest the mature stuff and hammer the less mature small stuff on bottom branches with a GA3 foliar spray to induce hermies, and feminized seed.

It is called selective harvesting. Instead of chopping the entire plant at once, generally you take the ripe colas and leave the smaller buds to grow some more. When you have taken all of the buds, if you were careful, you still have a plant with stems and leaves. Place it back in veg and repeat. It is not slower than starting a new seed. I'd rather have a mature plant back in vegging than planting a seed on that same day, any day.

The seed idea isn't bad, but some of those will have hermie traits depending on stability of strain.

I am thinking that the smaller buds wont continue flowering until you go to 12/12 again???

I would like to know more too, because I might do it with my first crop.
