how do you increace bud density?

i was woundering how people get those nice rock hard, dense popcorn nugs? i have a 400 watt hps, great ventalation, and temps at 74, and i can never seem to get them nice dense bud.
 
hps's are definitely the way to for density. i know that some of how dense a plants buds form is genetics but im no authority on this subject. you growin in soil or hydro what nutes do you use these are things that might help ppl diagnose your problem.
 
Yeah it could be the strain you have, But you can start adding molases 1 tbl spoon per gallon per watering in 12/12 and that will make a HUGE difference.
 
good vent, proper temp., do you have enough light??? how many plants are under your 400? maybe you need to concentrate the light on fewer plants. Before trying additives make sure your ph is good and your not over or under watering....a 400 watt light should produce just as dense of buds as any other light if used properly. maybe some more info. on your set-up would be helpful
 
Or you might not have enough light. A buddy of mine had a 400 years back and a lot of his nugs were whispy/airy so he got a 600 which helped a lot. Maybe try adding a few cfls and see if it makes a difference.
 
i growing in soil and useing a 15-30-15 for flowering, and this grow i did try useing molasses so ill see if that made the difference

i'm growing with cfls, and now i have a female, which is 49 days into flowering. All the hair is white still, so i'm guessing i have at least 2-3 more weeks till harvest. Do you think i'll see any difference if I start adding molasses now?? or is it to late??
 
and my grow space is 21"w x 31"d x 44"h with 4 plants on a 30 day cycle.( i put 2 in every 30 days when i harvest 2) for a total of 60 days flowering
 
Tell me I have been using MG 15-30-15 if I use molasses do I stop using MG there about 3 week into flowering.

Use wood ash during last two weeks of flowering.
 
try putting light closer to your plants. light intensity has alot to do with density,since every foot you move away from your plant constitutes a half drop in lumens.p.h. is real important too because without proper p.h.your plants cant utilize nutrients...
 
im running 1 400watt hps on 6 plants. i think the key is how close is your light? i push a 424cfm fan through a hood then exhaust air from my room. my light stays no more than 4 inches from the tops of my plants. i use what ever i have at hand to level the plants out like a ice chest, an old stereo speaker or what ever. then of course feed and water as needed. :peace:
 
light is about 4 in from the tops of the plants with a cool tube around it. and the ph of my soil is right around 6.6
