most camera's should tell you whether they imbed gps locations or not in the owners manual, and a lot o them also offer the ability to turn on and off such features...

there's also a way to read the exif data printed in pix ... just read the exif and see what info it contains..

pretty much every new phone, android, touch screens are tracking devices, and all info coming in or going out can be tracked back to that device.Computers also,if if can get a wifi connection,it can be tracked, nobody has privacy anymore, all these new phones, labtops,Ipad's may sound cool and fun,but they are just another tracking method for big brother.Long as your not doing anything illegal then don't worry, but don't expect to have any privacy. Here's a couple of quotes from this article I read.

"Cellphone data is now cornerstone in many law enforcement cases and location data provided by internal GPS systems is used routinely by all sorts of firms to include marketers and advertisers. Think about the “apps” that we purchase and we say “yes” to allowing our location to be known. It is so common place that most people just click yes and move on without fully realizing the impact of that 2 second choice. Every facet of our human existence in daily life is now tied to these trackers. When you set your alarm on your iPhone, send text messages, emails or buy things online you are willingly giving that information away for free. What ever happened to a notepad and pencil?"

"Whether you are aware of it or not, network providers constantly track and typically store your geographic information for a year or more according to the Justice Department. If an advertiser has insight into where you are they likely know what you are doing based on obvious data and tailor key marketing message to you based on your geographical habits. Let’s not even discuss the trending of data to establish behavior patterns."

"
If you want to get a small handle on your personal privacy then you could use prepaid phones and pay with cash assuming they will even be allowed for much longer. I can’t see many people other than those likely involved in illegal activities using these types of phones because the hassle factor is too high. Just this past week I went to two appointments where they asked for my social security number. Are people really willing to openly provide this information? Short of a mandatory situation, and I mean mandatory, your personal information should be kept like gold. Turning off your tracker (cellphone) when you are not using it will help somewhat because it isn’t in constant contact with the network provider and sending your data to them. There is even malware out in the wild that still sends data when you think you phone is off unless the battery is removed. Have you recently tried to remove your iPhone battery?
I recently lost my iPhone in a major city while there on business. Because I had location services enabled I was able to track my phones location and send messages to the screen. When there was no response I was able to wipe the phone and I unfortunately lost all hopes of ever getting the phone returned. There are cases where it seems that location services is helpful, but I argue if we didn’t treat our tracking devices like the center of our universe then the ability to track and wipe the device wouldn’t be as important to us.
Most of us have nothing to hide but that isn’t the point. The reason I felt so strongly about writing this article is because everyone should be aware that our traditional cellphones are now really tracking devices that just happen to make calls. However you feel about your tracker and personal privacy is your call–but at least you know now and have a choice. Everyone from law enforcement to advertisers are using this information and we should at a minimum be aware of this. Don’t even get me started on Google!"

scary shit.

The paranoia in here again. Lol just turn the setting OFF. That article??I'm sure we've all heard it before.

As for the wandering malware and tracking data once you are part of a Wi Fi network, that is precisely why we have secured networks with passwords. Just don't access a public network if you don't trust it. I bet when you lose your phone you WISH they had better methods of tracking and pinpointing its location lol.

There is always a way to crack the system and we've all been shown how easily someone could steal your data from multiple devices; your phone, your laptop or even some cameras, but honestly that shit is not going to happen unless someone is specifically out to get you. Do you think people are out to get you?

Unless you are already in trouble, nobody is interested in your couple of plants x

Just make sure you sort out the metadata on whatever you chose to publish to the internet of keep on your phone. Might be better off archiving them on a computer with no connection to an external netwrok whatsoever. If you're really paranoid, a computer/laptop that is not Wi Fi enabled at all so no one can try and hack their way in whilst you think you're offline.

what does loading through there do? erase anything it says?
Loading through the "Jeffrey's Exif Viewer" is an easy way to check for metadata (like, geo-location). It doesn't remove anything, just shows you whats there.

The second link is a free program which will allow you to remove all metadata from jpegs (only jpegs, the paid version does all types).

the information on the pictures are called metadata http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metadata

i use a simple program called exifcleaner (free) and just strip my photos off ALL information. takes about 1 second
Acctualy im a bit concerned since i keep seeing ppl upload their files direcly from cellphones or without processing them in a program. this is a big nono! cellphone pictures (now im talking mostly bout iphones/android etc) are the most likely to show a GPS footprint.

edit: oh and im not sure but i think exifcleaner can clean all formats

you can also just use paint, which most newer computers come with for free, to delete any exif info from pix..

simply save a pix via paint, and bammo, all exif info is gone.. upload the saved pix minus the exif info.. no programs to dload, no nada.. very easy cheesey japenesy.. :D

just klick on Add images (top left) and add images. afterwards i usualy go to clean setup (top right) and check strip exif data entirely and press clean. it will leave you with the original + a fully striped copy.
