How do you "Ocean Grow" weed?

In late '93 John from Grass Valley Ca. got the Chem Dog cut. He shared it with me, Jerry(cowboy) from Dibble Creek Ca. and Harold(Putz) from Sunset Beach Ca. Putz had a male he called the secret ingredient. It was a cross of Lemon Thai and an Old World Paki Kush. Putz bred the secret ingredient to the Chem Dog. The buds that came out of this cross were going around So. L.A. county in '95. Someone told Putz that Kush must be so good because it was mountain grown. Putz laughed and told him "this Kush is Ocean Grown Kush bro". The tag stuck and it became known as OG Kush.
I do remember reading something similar to that at one point.. but won't join this argument - I just know that salt water on leaves fucks up the stomata.. and is bad. :P

What is completely retarded is thinking you have an empirical truth, and stating one reference for a source to back it up.

The truth is, the existence of OG Kush doesn't date back to a particular grower in the 90's that found some elite Chem genetics, it doesn't date back to a hippy at a Grateful Dead show that found some amazing bag seed.

Kush genetics originate, and for the last 10,000+ years have evolved, in high altitudes of various Asian mountain regions.

Thinking a breeder created a Kush strain in the 90's that is hailed as the "OG Kush" is ill-founded to say the least. Not to mention it's 2013, and there are probably 500+ OG varieties that exist throughout the world.

The whole argument is silly, in my opinion. But the facts can be stated. It isn't a secret where our best kush genetics originate from, and it's NOT California.

yes the REAL kush came from the kush mountains BUT OG KUSH came from california which is located by the ocean and hence the name OCEAN GROWN KUSH.
OBVIOUSLY its not "kush" from the kush mountains but many breeders use the names "kush", "haze", and "diesel" to name their strains and the name kush just happens to be used in the name of this particular stain.

haha seems like to much work that would probably result in no results if that makes sense
You seem to be missing the point. The reason it is Ocean Grown is because they grew it next to the ocean. There are no inherant benefits to growing next to an ocean. They didnt grow by the ocean for results. That just so happend to be we're they lived, and they gave it a catchy nickname based on where they lived. Simple as that...You are reading too deep into it.

yes, we are talking about og kush's and not land race kush's such as afghani, pakastani, etc, etc, etc..
og's have nothing at all to do with land race kush's as land race kush's are almost always 100% indica, and og's can have a heavy sativa influence which comes from the thai used in the cross..
kush and og kush are two very different things.. i'm not all that crazy about say afghani kush, but a good og, omg, hell yes, pass it please.. :D

I'm no expert but I think it's called ocean grown because it was grown on the coast near the ocean. I dont think it was actually fed ocean water
