How do you raise ph without ph up

I think you can use vinegar for pH up and lemon juice for down. In the instructions that come with rock wool cubes it says you can use a lemon to get the pH to 5.5 and i have read that you can use vinegar for pH up. You can also get small bottles of pH up and pH down a your local pet store if you don't have hydro shop near you.

5.2 is low for soil, OK for hydro. Either way it will go up by itself. Better have some ph down on hand though, you will use that a lot.

I only use ph down! never once up!
I used ph up once, I had a heat on and didn't feel like mixing concentrate and water so I just dumped about 100ml (could have been 200 for all I know) ph down concentrate in the control box. BIG mistake! Ph went straight to 3. Started mixing ph up real quick I tell you. It's a miracle I didn't fry the whole crop. Haven't needed it since then though, but it's good to have around.

What I did when I didnt have Ph up/down was find some water with high PH and low PH, Then just use your PH checker and mix and match the water to get the right PH.

First off vinegar is an acid it lowers your ph. I wouldn't use it though. I use ammonium sulfate to lower my ph. To raise instantly use hydrated lime desolved in water. Baking soda does work for raising.

ok im gonna use lime thx everyone
Try home depot for garden lime.

I like it because it also provides calcium, and it's hard to over apply - lime.

Vinegar is for salad dressing, and it's acid, not alkaline.

Fact: "The pH of vinegar depends upon how much acid is present, but most commercial distilled white vinegars contain 5% acetic acid and have a pH of about 2.4." :wall:
